I’d say “run away”! but you’re already there, so that’s not very helpful.

To replace the foam seal (which fits between the heater and the bulkhead) the heater itself needs to be removed. ...

I’ve only done the job a couple of times. I used a beam type, but needed to get one especially so that it had a decent enough range over the torque (only 11Nm or something small like that?)

The place that last did mine used/recommended a stuff called ‘arbomast’. I got a couple of tubes and I think it’s OK - may not be much different to anything else of the same ilk tho’.
