Mudstuff Interior Lights
I am forever having issues with the interior lights in my 300Tdi.

I did change the normal festoon bulbs for LED Panels with connectors but they still wriggle loose and then don't work.

I know there is nothing sensible that can be done about the switches for the door contacts apart from a clean or replace as they are a very old skool design and prone to issues.

I suspect that I know the answer but are the Mud lights worth the money? 1995 300 Tdi Epsom Green- Slowly Turning into Keswick Green - It's a keeper.

I think so. I fitted a pair to my DC Defender and was so impressed I fitted three to my Disco 2.

If you like a really bright interior light you wont find much n the same league.

I like it bright when I am not moving and looking for bits in the cubby or the back, also like the idea of the red light for at night for when others are trying to look for something when I am driving.

I assume the unit is pretty much sealed and solid state as it were so nothing can come loose. 1995 300 Tdi Epsom Green- Slowly Turning into Keswick Green - It's a keeper.

I've had no routine problems with mine, they seem to be very robust.

You’ve more or less decided - and I wouldn’t advise against them either.

I fitted mine quite a few years ago and haven’t had a single reason to regret it. At first I thought the red light would be a bit of a gimmick, but I find I use it quite a lot when camping where the white would destroy any night vision.

Really happy with these tbh. Donald

They are very good but as to if they're worth the money, only the person spending can decide that 😉

i had one in my 300 tdi, did the job as it should, but for the red LED i found useless. Id rather just had the one LED setup. Good quality though too. Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back

Bullet bitten so to speak.

Have just ordered 2 and a plinth for the rear one from Mud and am currently cleaning up the door switches (again).

I wonder if anyone will come up with a replacement for those that is a bit more reliable? 1995 300 Tdi Epsom Green- Slowly Turning into Keswick Green - It's a keeper.

They have now arrived and been fitted.

Not sure if it is common to all defenders but my 300Tdi did not have a negative fly lead to the rear light point. It took it from the screw holding the back plate to the central roof rib. I had to create one so that it can be turned on with the door shut.

Just need to wait for darkness to descend to see how good they are although they do seem to be illuminating things even in relatively bright overcast conditions. 1995 300 Tdi Epsom Green- Slowly Turning into Keswick Green - It's a keeper.
