Ive also been wondering in regards to this green cap and valve, but never got around to asking the question. Can't seem to find any mention of it in the workshop manual, just wondering if it is only an Aussie thing.
Maybe, as mentioned before, its to bleed the air out of the lines as you draw the fuel up the low pressure side, similiar to the one on the Sealey tool.

I have the same here. I have used it a couple of times to get the air out. It it was a 2 people job. One blowing air through the filler and the other pushing the needle valve.
Now I have my alliexpress manual pump. Puma 110" SW

2009 Defender 110 Puma 2.4 SW Alpine White

I made a hand bleeder from the parts that were described in the thread and it worked perfect. I wanted to keep it somewhere on the truck just in case I ever need it when not in the garage. Since it smells of diesel I do not want to keep it inside the truck. Does anyone store it under the bonnet somehow?

2010 Defender 90 Puma 2.4 SW Santorini Black

Hi All

I have created a bleeding bulb as described in this thread, I connected to the female fuel supply line (the blue connector) and I pumped a liter into a bottle and all was good.
When I connect the bleeding bulb inline (connected to the fuel pump) its impossible to pump.
It like the fuel pump is closed and wont allow fuel in.
Also when I turn the engine over I don't see any fuel flow through the bleeding bulb pipes.

Should it pump freely through the pump ?
Any advise please
