Small connector on starter - is it OK or loose? You can check you starter by connecting this connector to 12V. Or a typical problem of these starters - worn contacts in solenoid - look for repair kit. |

Remove one propshaft, engage central diff lock and try if. It will run only as 4x2, but without power to front or rear axle it should change the noise. Than do the same with the second propshaft.

Also using some heat on the nylock nut softens the plastic inside and make it simpler to remove, but you have to be carefull for thing around. I use small propan torch for this. |

Are you sure, you have no fuel in oil leak? Thin oil diluted by fuel can make this problems.
