my point is that large traditional SUV's are being killed (Defender, LC, G-wagen, Patrol (although it sells very well). those sales figures must include todays SUV's most of which are 2WD like the Nissan Rogue, Renault and Puegot crossovers & Tiguan etc..

Obviously folks in Switzerland can afford a new Defender, and good for them. Here is Spain and many EU countries they are simply unaffordable. My local dealer still has his 90K launch model from June and has sold zero. LR sold seven in Jan and twelve Discovery's, hardly a sustainable business plan for dealers. My brother lives in Denmark and they are 175,000 EU... seriously, how many can afford that? One member in NL on the forum paid 46K EU in taxes on his Defender! Most of those EU sales listed will be UK and Germany. Taxes are killing or have killed sales of large SUV's in the EU.

People don't buy them anymore... I believe I was told that 93% of all LR products are now on Lease of some kind.... Hence why people don't care what goes wrong with them... There just a vanity product....

just my 2p It doesn't matter how bad it is, It can always get worse...

US Defender Sales 2020
Interesting, yet more market evidence that the "pandemic" effect is actually impacting large SUV sales less than the overall average for the auto market as a whole.

Car Industry Analysis (@lovecarindustry) Tweeted:

2020 results: upcoming #FordBronco to join D-SUV Off-road segment. Volume at 211k units, down 8%. It’s dominated by 5-door #JeepWrangler. Due to the size of the segment, it’s likely that new Bronco will bring new customers to it, having a moderate impact on the Wrangler’s sales

Another slant on whether new Defender is cannibalising D5 sales.

Car Industry Analysis (@lovecarindustry) Tweeted:

There’s speculation that the new #LandRoverDefender is cannibalizing the #LandRoverDiscovery. Although the data supports this, the current gen Discovery has been posting sales drops way before the introduction of the new Defender. Arrival of Defender accelerated drop of Discovery

Swiss 1st Quarter car sales were published in the last 24 hours.

The Defender is now Land Rover's (joint, with the Evoque) best selling vehicle with 142 sold. The Discover is the poorest selling LR product with 23. As context Aston Martin sold 31 DBX's and Mercedes sold 121 G Wagons.

"Demand for new cars continued their recovery across Australia for the fifth month in a row, with official March results released today showing steady growth. "

"Indeed, all but two of the Top 25 brands posted sales gains; only Honda and Land Rover hit reverse."

not surprised about Australia, there is next to no stock on the forecourts, and has
been like this since September.. The dealers are relying on customer factory orders rather than
walk in and purchase from what was on LR's national books. I have been past a few dealerships
and there is next to nothing in their lovely glass showrooms at all.. even their best sellers such
as the RRS and ewok are absent

Chatting to some of the sales guys they say their factory orders are going gang busters, but the
customers have to wait six months plus for their order to arrive.. yet another pommie bar steward down under

Looks like some American dealerships are having to replace a lot of cars - 11 already in 4 months of the year at a single dealership........... these are all petrol engines versions. Does that also count as a boost to sales if you have to replace a “lemoned” car?

Not out yet for Q4 FY21 ~ I'm checking daily but it's also FY end, so might be a little slower than normal.

Latest published figures are in this thread ~ page 8
