How popular are New Defenders?
6am today I parked on the edge of an airport short stay car park and walked on the pedestrian walkway through to the terminal - just within sight each side of the path I counted 11 x 110’s and a solitary 90. This was just in the outside car park - probably more of them in the multi-storey and long stay car parks. Plenty of Evoques and DiscoSports but few Full Fats, RRS or Full Fat Discoveries of any model and not a single previous gen Defender. Getting way too common, but shows just how popular the new Defender is 2.5 years after sales started. Pangea Green D250 90 HSE with Air Suspension, Off-road Pack, Towing Pack, Black Contrast roof , rear recovery eyes, Front bash plate, Classic flaps all round, extended wheel arch kit and a few bits from PowerfulUK Expel Clear Gloss PPF to come
2020 D240 1st Edition in Pangea Green with Acorn interior. Now gone - old faithful, no mechanical issues whatsoever ever but the leaks and rattles all over the place won’t be missed!

How popular are New Defenders?
Not very round these parts. Two and half years in and we saw our first new Defender in the flesh last weekend here in Albany, parked up as we were just about to drive onto the beach in our 2013 Deefer. "Look, look a new Defender" I shouted to the family, pointing wildly. Mrs Andy, for whom cars are of not much to no interest looked and said "Are you sure. Isn't that a Discovery?".

Once they get picked up by the 'Rad Dad' crowd any potential cool factor is immediately extinguished.

So long as the cupholders are big enough for an extra large trendy coffee its all good........

What would give it the cool factor? Being driven by overweight, retired men in cargo shorts? Wink https://instagram.com/bentheoandrews

It's rare you can give an objective response in a forum, but here you go:

I can't find a way to filter for just New Defenders, or differentiate between 90s/110s. But there were precisely 276 X-Dynamic S Diesels registered in the UK in Q3 last year.

https://www.howmanyleft.co.uk/browse/land_...r_defender

17.6% of owners wore cargo shorts
32.1% were murdered out by Urban Automotive
87% of owners had facial hair
