Air con condenser
Does anyone know where you can get a decent quality replacement condenser for the ac. After just the condenser part, not surround frame or fan needed. Cheers

They only come complete with surround and fan. I got a britpart (spit) one years ago, and it looked exactly the same as original, fitted great, worked and lasted.

Could you get yours record like they do with rads?

There doesn’t seem to be an aftermarket source for these, even the britpart item is OEM.
Also because the Defender has finished production the price seems to have gone up!As I think it is unique to the Defender.

I’m not sure if you could make something else fit.

Cheers

They cost £420. No one else makes one. You cant make another fit without replacing all the AC pipe work.

Allisport considered one but never made it. Instagram @defender_ventures

I was just as down when my condensor totally failed a few years ago. They are so brittle and thin you cant even find take off or scrapped ones. I can say after i replaced it the AC now stays in for at least 8 months and is considerably colder. So well worth it.

Just got to find the other pin leak.... Instagram @defender_ventures

Ever since replacing mine I’ve had a fine mesh behind the grill, to save paying out again. Twisted Evil

Speak to Robin at Duckworth Parts. (Brilliant service)

He’s got a few take off condensers.

Replaced mine this morning, all gassed up and 🥶!

Mine has lost most of its fins and is held together with cable ties - they seem to be ultra vulnerable to salt and vaporise in a few short years. Whenever I go through deep water I end up with a festoon of unfolded aluminum fin hanging down from behind the grille. It still works though which makes me loath to replace it but don't want to dump the gas because I'm too tight to bow to the inevitable. I think it's a job for this summer.

Do you mind me asking where you got yours from & at what cost? Ours is held together with cable ties & needs replacing sooner rather than later.

Hi all
anyone found a more reasonable pricing for a condenser ?

LR025985

The only ones I have found are still in the £400 range ... Poppy - TDCI (Puma) 110XS 2.2 - Camper conversion - see the build here - https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic56530.html
Elgar -TDCI(Puma) 110XS Dormobile - now sold
