That is not a Defender, as simple as that. In countries where we need a really strong car, this will not be the solution.

This is the DC100 from years ago, this looks a lot like what's underneath the camouflage.

You know what - I'd be relieved if it looked like the DC100 now - just so long as it doesn't look exactly the same as all the other current LRs! Rolling Eyes

It does..... they have kept it close to the concept. Challenge is starting price of £40k just for a basic model that does not have all the extras in the Disco Sport etc.

L90Andy & Boxoftricks - ok, that's some comfort because so far as looks go, it really needs to look nothing like the rest of the range - no stupid 'family resemblance' going on (other than Defender of course)!

Any chance of seeing 16" or 17" wheels on it though?

I quite like the look of that. Where did it come from? Is it just another guess at what it may look like?

My relative who works at the factory and is familiar with the latest prototype recons that this is pretty close to the real thing.
He did say that there are several variants, including a chassis cab, pickup, very long wheel base, a camper and even a woody waggon. Whether any of these will see the light of day remains to be seen.

Automatic tyre inflation, front/rear cameras, 'sport' mode and gesture recognition will be great for flying around Waitrose car park and the school run.
Plus with Land Rover's legendary reliability, what could possibly go wrong?

I'm stoked. 'Premium durability ' baby.

an exercise in saying nothing and majoring on some patents which may or may not have anything to do with the new Defender.... Rolling Eyes Steve N | 21MY Defender | 08MY Discovery 3 (history) | 06MY Discovery 3 (ancient history)

Why thank you kind sir. With a total of 9 posts in 12 years of being a member I feel honoured you chose to pick my post out of the thousands you could have responded to. Even though I didn't quite understand what you were on about.

Be lucky and have a great weekend.

All this new tech, when some folks just want ingress/egress ladders and pedal extensions, eh, Al?

(Booster cushions readily available from good after-market vendors.)

Me? I hanker after the good old days, when the front window handle was a small block of sharp glass glued onto the sliding pane at cheek height. Elf n safety? Men were tall and hairy in them days, and LR aircon was a hole in the front bulkhead.

New Defender? What news of Mafeking?
