Rear submerged in sea water - that will be one ex-management car to avoid when it goes off the management fleet and into a dealership at an inflated price if you want to keep it a long time......... Pangea Green D250 90 HSE with Air Suspension, Off-road Pack, Towing Pack, Black Contrast roof , rear recovery eyes, Front bash plate, Classic flaps all round, extended wheel arch kit and a few bits from PowerfulUK Expel Clear Gloss PPF to come
2020 D240 1st Edition in Pangea Green with Acorn interior. Now gone - old faithful, no mechanical issues whatsoever ever but the leaks and rattles all over the place won’t be missed!

I nearly purchased a Disco Series II TD5 from a dealer in Surrey until the inspection report, stated the chassis
was pretty much shot at the rear, this on a 4 year old car, spent a lot of time dunking its rear end in estuaries
they suspected based upon the previous owners postcode.. could have been a costly mistake yet another pommie bar steward down under

Unfortunately with the Disco2 you don't have to dunk them for that to happen. They tend to suffer severe chassis rot from the rear axle backwards, and I've seen them with spring and or damper mounts fallen off, and even chassis rails separated as a result. I don't know why this area is so bad.

On Disco1 it's the rear floor that fits out. On Disco2 it's the chassis under the rear floor.

Any pictures of a New Defender stuck on a beach as the tide comes in? Can only be a matter of time!

Well considering nobody has taken delivery yet.

But they’d be in good company

Is the boot of the 110 big enough for Highways Agency?

Probably the boot size is comparable to the Mitsubishi Shogun they are still using.

I thought the Highways Agency took delivery of a large number of D5's so I cant see them getting the Defender for a while or just for evaluation / throwing miles on one or two.

The D5 has been a squeeze for Highways England to get all the stuff in the back. It's a big car outside but the boot is either smaller or less usefully shaped than the D4/Shogun. I'm sure there'll be some Defenders in for trial if the boot looks big enough as they are slightly cheaper than a D5 aren't they? 2007 110 TDCi Station Wagon XS

They are a fair bit cheaper but that’s 3.0 D5 versus 2.0 Defender, though 240hp D5 and Defender is on a par but is Defender better equipped.

Thinking about it, the 130 might be more suitable for the job, when it arrives. 2007 110 TDCi Station Wagon XS

Had a look at pricing a base Defender D240 is £4K more expensive than a base 240 Disco Shocked

Has any 130s been spotted testing?
