I agree the latest batch of MINIs have evolved quite far from what I would consider a Mini. Even the lady is not a fan of the newest editions (too big, not fun). Having said that, the original new MINI in my eyes, and many others, immediately evoked memories of the old classic and while the price was higher, it was still a common person's vehicle.

In that category I think the Fiat 500 has also done a great job.

Make sure you check the towing capacity Whistle

2200kg braked for the diesel, 2000kg braked for the petrol

And the two-door can only tow 1500kg

Agree, the towing capacity isn't spectacular. The link in your post though must be for the old models with the 2.8 diesel and 3.6 V6 petrol. Looks like Jeep haven't updated the UK website!

From the brochure, the 4 door is now rated at 2495Kg. Still nowhere near the new Defender, but more than enough for my needs.

Jeep UK website shows only 2.0ltr petrol and diesels - Rubicon appears to be auto only

Thumbs Up good spot there.

Add "capability" at the end and it does indeed show the new tow weights/drivetrains

I think the Gladiator variant tows more, and if this comes off then there's another version in the mix: The Gladiator XMT (Extreme Military-Grade Truck)

The Gladiator can tow 7650 lbs (about 3.5 tons by my reckoning) according to the US website.

Yes mine is a rubicon which is designed to be a capable 4x4 out of the box

It came with 32” bf muds
Within a week I had it booked in at Jeepey for new bumper, 2” lift, new wheels , 35” tyres and side bars

Also had all rear tinted windows double tinted so van like. Rear seats fold fla

They are all auto and I chose the petrol which is 280 bhp

Mind you the rubicon is prob same money as a defender. Also NOT vat qualifying which is rubbish. Seeing as a 110 utility is

I would love to see a SW Gladiator with a diesel engine.
Will be a quite good replacement of the SW Defender 110 for overlanding. Eduardo

I just watched some old camel trophy films with defender and disco. Although JLR claims to have build the toughest defender to date, I don't see a new defender (or any recent not product for that matter) survive those conditions for a single day. To me the camel trophy's are a good part of the legend (and dreams) of land rover. Now all that's left are the memories. I haven't been without (at least 1) LR product for over more than 30 years. But as I see it now, there might not be a new one. I' m going to hold my 110DCPU Puma forces long as I can, and hope to restore my 1984 90 (converted some 20 years ago to a 4.6V8) to it's former glorie.
I'm still reluctant to convert to keep. I really hope the One is Greandier will be a true replacement for the defender (as the new JLR defender - at least for me - is a total no go. My current defender is used for work (tools, cement, wood, ... in the back), green laning and travelling (hope to do more of the last in the future
.
