The Merc jack is just the right size to fit in the battery box, and the handle (borrowed from a trolley jack) fits neatly alongside.

No problems lifting my 110 with a flat.

A patch with self tappers should suffice in most cases, but you might wish to use sealant or mastic as well.

From my experience a TD5 does around 24 - 26 MPG and a 300TDI does around 28 - 30 MPG.
