Why would anyone waste their time faking that? There must be hundreds of clips of Land Rovers (and whatever else) pulling trucks and buses in the snow.

There is nothing fake about that, and it isn't particularly impressive. All the Defender is doing is adding a weeny bit of forward force. Visually it looks good.

Why would it? It's a light 4x4 on ice, there is no way that it is going to be able to put much load on the towball under these conditions. I suppose that if it had a long rope and did a snatch it might, but under those conditions there isn't a snowball's chance in hell of overloading the ball. The fact that there is a massive truck on the other end of the rope won't alter the tractive effort of the Defender!

It's a pretty shoddy way to attach a rope though.

I was also looking for the video of an early police 2 door RR classic towing a truck on a snowy M62, but I couldn't find it Sad

Thumbs Up

I cant be bothered tracking down the numbers but it wouldn't surprise me if there are more Jeep Wranglers sold outside of the USA each year than JLR can manage worldwide with new Defender.
