Someone made a good point today. If alcohol hand gel kills it on your hands, surely alcohol will kill it inside you too.

Anyone fancy a pint?

Sorry, I know it's serious, but you have to have a laugh occasionally.

Take care guys,

We are just finished the first wave here and trying to recover some normality after almost 3-4 month of quarantine. We are starting the spring and more people are going out.

Not sure if the people understand the importance of wear mask, wash hands and the social distancing, but if we don't take care probably we will have a second round soon.

Cheers! Eduardo

What is happening with you guys in the UK, I heard on the News today that you've had over 20,000 infections in one day,.....that is a big number,...also that basically all of Wales has been shut down.
I know the News has a habit of dramatizing things, so was wondering if any of you guys have any real concerns.
Pickles.

Yes, I have concerns and I live in a fairly low Covid area.

I have even heard people who thought it was all over now saying they are concerned.

The BBC’s Martin Bashir (him of the infamous Princess Diana interview in 1995) has been reported as having caught Covid and being ‘seriously unwell’.

My thoughts are because Covid is not killing large numbers, people are not bothered or at least as bothered. What is poorly reported are the long term health issues that some are encountering after being infected. Some people’s lives have been wiped out by the virus and no one knows why. It’s a bit like the old ‘Yuppie Flu’ where energy levels are low and suffers are getting joint pains.

I heard that there are test on 90 healthy volunteers soon on a vaccine. Let’s hope all goes well. I really am fed up with this (I don’t suppose I am unique?)

I am taking no unnecessary chances. I have to get food. I have to work, but I am definitely not taking chances with it.

G'Day Rashers, Glad to hear you're taking no chances.
There are also those in Aussie, who don't/won't care, and they have compounded the problem, substantial fines have been issues.
If Boris thinks that the Virus will go away without a lockdown or very substantial isolation rules, He is mistaken, IMHO He is simply postponing the inevitable. He just has to look at everywhere else in the World.
There are always people who also say they "don't understand", when they get caught breaking the rules, and I hate to say it, but there are a large percentage of ethnic groups in this category......just yesterday, a person from such a group broke quarantine (there was also a problem with our contact tracing), as a consequence of which at least 500 people have been ordered to self isolate......and we were hoping for a relaxation of restrictions next week,...which now may not happen.
Took the car out for a drive yesterday, couldn't go far, we're not allowed to drive further than 25ks from home, there's just so many things we can't do.
It is compulsory to wear masks when leaving home, and when we are on our daily walk, we make sure we keep our distance, we don't know when we'll have the confidence to use public transport again, because you just don't know who will sit next to you.
You are 100% right to show concern, I would suggest you advise your friends to take very serious note.
Stay safe, Pickles.
Mate, I know you're concerned, so this comment is not directed at you, but if anyone else thinks that I'm in Aussie, so it's no concern of mine, well fair enough, but I'm just trying to explain that EVERYBODY needs to show real concern.

How many people are dying from it (not with it) in Australia daily Pickles?

In the UK, the daily death rate from everything is no different from any other year.

Which should be a cause for concern, as we killed so many of the at risk group back in March ~ May... so who are we killing now to keep the average up?

Your graph shows the number of people dying from covid recently is pretty much the same as before it really hit, ie hardly any.

Why should that be of increased concern when other, far more deadly ailments are killing many more?

Would you have made the same point on 26th March?

I wouldn't have know anything then, so of course not.

But the death rate isn't increasing now. Your graphs show that. Why the worry?

The death rate was not increasing before 26th March - that was my point. The number of deaths is a trailing indicator - look to the leading indicators instead.

In car terms, it's driving down the road looking through the front windscreen vs. trying to drive forwards by only looking at the rear view mirror?

That graph is very coarse so perhaps this one will help:

Whilst not as dramatic as the end of March, the death rate is clearly on the up again, unfortunately. Darren

All I can say is that shows 'Deaths WITH coronavirus', not 'FROM coronavirus'.

One of my neighbours died with it, but her death was from several strokes she had, before she caught it in hospital.

Please don't think I'm trivialising it though. I know it can be serious for some people.
