1999 Defender 110 Td5 SW Caledonian Blue

Compressor cupboard

Decided in the shed I needed to find a better home for the compressor (50 Litre) and a home for the trolley jack. Can these live side by side without argument?
Well.
6 x 4ft sheet of 18mm ply, 4 castors, 2 x 12mm sheets of plywood and some off cuts later

For the eagle eyed people people, yes that is the jack handle safely stored away in two old bits of black plastic pipe and yes, the axle stands live on top of the trolley jack.

A quick test from 1m away, with the door shut and the compressor running its around 5-8db drop in noise. Maybe I can improve this with some foam around the compressor. 1999 Defender TD5 110

Something that probably will have to do some day in the future for the compressor when I move garage… grumpy neighbors

Any concerns for overheating for the compressor? Is it easy to get to drain condensation from the tank? 1988 90 Hard Top, 19J Diesel Turbo, Shire Blue - Restoration ongoing

Cheers. No real concerns of over heating, If I do use it a lot I can open the door inbetween the compressor running and as for the drain tap, I can still pull forward/remove the compressor if need be to get to the drain. 1999 Defender TD5 110

what compressor do you have? me and my dad are looking at one Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back

Line the enclosure with engine bay acoustic insulation 25mm minimum, double or triple up where you have the space. I have 3 ARB compressors in the car in parallel to pump up tyres quicker, with acoustic insulation stuffed everywhere. It makes a huge difference in lowering noise levels.

Also screw a cross brace or 2 to reduce vibration to the 2 large side panels, like one would with a speaker enclosure. Visitor - Freelander owner

Having owned several compressors typically sold because if move and or too little use, I now have one of those quiet Einhell compressors. Absolutely fantastic, I would never buy a standard compressor again!
