I’m a big LR fan, anybody that’s on Martins other forums will know that, the original Defender is great, it’s the icon it’s got character and charm but for me that’s where the positives stop. My old man had a 110 hi cap pick up, he loved it but for me my knees where up to my chin, no elbow room it was just wasn’t an enjoyable experience. Character and charm wasn’t enough for me to buy one. In that sense I’m glad it’s changed the new one is a usable vehicle everyday, and I suspect a lot will be bought based on the same reasons rather than based on whether it has a Defender or a Disco badge on it.

My plan is to have an ‘old’ Defender 90 at some point, a roof off job for some summer fun but at the moment I’ve no where to store it and can’t justify the cost just for a toy.

Well they all work for LR so they're obviously trying to make a point

Presumably also they haven't forked out tens of thousands of their own hard-earned cash so perhaps are less worried about looking after them.

I did wonder about the next "real" owner, and whether they would wonder why they kept finding dust and dirt around all the plastic finishings and wondered where it all was coming from...

All in the current lockdown, where was he planning on taking this?

Is that to dispose of the contents of the boot or the whole vehicle? Very Happy

If one wants to use a practical vehicle to move things with , a tray is way more practical , in this modern Era , a Ranger or Hi Lux .
Maybe not a glorified , way too expensive Disco Defender thing .

Remember that Land Rover has a global reputation of making fragile and unreliable vehicles , so another expensive complex suv in there line up
Will only add to this reputation !

With more and more models , yet sales volumes static if not falling ,
I fear they will not survive post Covid 19 .

First casualty needs to be Jerry .

It is a Disco 5.... Just with some cheap to manufacture plastics tacked onto it and some revised software..... It doesn't matter how bad it is, It can always get worse...

Yes unfortunately it is a Discovery , had a little giggle
When the new Defender was following its same running gear D5 around the real hard core Eastnore Castle practice track .

It is what it is , but will this thing save JLR ?

It appears to me that it will appeal on looks and price to the fashionable
Range Rover set !

Will this pull in conquest volume sales from other Manufacturers ?

I fear not .

JLR needs an affordable volume sales vehicle
And electric options.

.
