The fuel consumption is horrendous for this day and age. It says 30mpg, so in the real word, that’s around 26mpg.

The prices are absolutely insane , I can not comprehend how they’re going to be selling so many projected units at those figures . To spec the Defender to the same as our Disco 4 HSE will take the price to nearly £85k , a whopping £25k more than I paid for the Disco.
The Red Cross are clearly rather flush !

So where does the Defender sit in the Land Rover stable now , below the RRS but above the Discovery 5 ?

I suppose the American market will be absolutely flooded , I’ve just spoken with my Yankee cousin and they’re all hopping with excitement , they’ve wanted the Defender badge for a long time and now they’ve got it !
The design is fantastic , it’s modern , practical and hopefully does what it says . Infotainment and over the air updates are a worrying addition , knowing JLRs track record with technology .

The real question for me is , Where’s the poverty spec pick up ? That’s what I’m after !!
Any mention in previous announcements? https://www.instagram.com/hustynminepark/

An £800 option.

It does look very small and the total loss of the cubby box and centre rail is disappointing. I was hoping for something that could be swapped between the two.

Can't think of anything worse than having a large dog sat there as was suggested Shocked

Has anyone found the front winch option on the configurator yet? There is a winch accessory pack at (IIRC) a shocking £343 (steep for two shackles, a strop, and a manual), but I cannot find am actual winch.

Not just me then? I did notice winch equipped ones in the promo videos.

That kit states it is only available from mid 2020, which I thought was odd for a bag of commercially available bits. Along with having to purchase the winch manual separately from the winch! I think the manual is probably the LR Guide to Winching instead.

Interior view looks even more like a previous versions of the Discovery, I'd be hard pressed to tell them apart:

For me, the choice of colours for the ‘reveal’ demonstrates the degree to which LR has lost its way.

It's all a bit Farrow and Ball.

You know that the inclusion of square rear lights, like the current FFRR will be out of date by the next facelift. A Defender should be timeless.

Yeah all Farrow and no balls!

110 starts at £45k with steel wheels and cloth seats, (see small print) that is more than I paid for my Disco. Its good it will take 18 inch wheels though 2015 RRS Autobiography SDV6

My lifelong love of Land Rover makes me hope it is a roaring success - but somehow I just don't feel it.

Technically brilliant and massively capable, so "well done" to the engineers at Solihull.

But the design?

I notice a lot of the early "lovers" were female, so is that who it is aimed at?

The launch majored on the "icon" and shots of it performing in the rough - but Gerry seems to have majored on competing with Kahn and the Chelsea Truck Co.

Very expensive, so clearly aimed at a market segment that JLR already have.

With a Freelander badge on, it would be wonderful!

Would like to see the "Country" version but that front end will probably put me off buying it.

And once the gloss of "newness" has worn off, how cheap will it have to be second-hand, so the "aspirationals with no money" can afford to buy it - and will they be able to afford to maintain it?

Good luck with it JLR - and I mean it - but as I am not the target market, I am out, even second- hand..

All I can see is lots of little crevices to fill with spilled animal feed. Not really dual purpose any more - you either buy a commercial for work or a SW for home. No switching between the two.

Just for fun I specced up a 110 with the options needed to make it functionally comparable to my current puma. Admittedly a bit over the top but it came out at 127000euros!!!

Farmerben. A Paperwork exercise. Ask the ‘right people’ the ‘right question’ in the ‘right way’ and you’ll get the ‘right answer’. ‘Goldfish-bowl’ theory. McG knew what he wanted from this new Defender and clearly led it in that direction. What it looked like, but also who he wanted to sell to, (and for how much), both of which are already the JLR preferred target market. A few ‘upset’ current Defender owners was no skin off his nose... Monsieur Le Grenadier

I've not been everywhere, but it's on my list.....
