Who’s reserved a build slot then?
My local dealer is taking deposits for build slots, from the latest pics released I'm getting pretty excited about this and I think it will tempt me back into the brand.

Deposit placed, hoping prices reflect my budget once released!

Anyone else put their money down? Andy

Is there wheelbase options?

Just curious.

I wish I could! Going to have to speak to the boss to see if I can get one as a company car.

I'm sure they'll be options for wheel base eventually. Hopefully commercial options too... James

My dealer said firm orders can be placed after the reveal in September and deliveries are expected to be around this time next year. No idea what will be available for the first builds but looks like 90 and 110 with a 130 to follow but none of this concrete yet. Andy

Small refundable deposit made. 2.0 litre diesel with auto box is estimated engine system. Suspect it will be same/similar engine configuration as LRDS and RRE with a box on top for seats and boot. Saw a picture with gear selector in dash rather than floor to allow for middle front seat. 3 litre diesel next year and maybe some sort of SVR v8 at some point.

LRD Td5 and LRD(new) on the driveway keeps most options open.

I think I’m going to get a car ordered. Love my D4 and Defender, but one of them had to be renewed within a couple of years, probably the D4. 2021 Defender 110 X-Dynamic HSE D300 MHEV

The Finance and Assets Manager in our house has decided that one Defender is more than enough so I'll not be putting a deposit down. Looks like I'll have to settle for the face lifted DS when it comes out later this year. Defender 90XS SW

I'd have thought the new Defender would be a good replacment for the DS (unless you need the 7 seats?) Andy

See product at Frankfurt motor show in September. Still predict, given JLR's situation, that engine, monocox chassis, gear box will be RRE/LRDS, but raised and tougher. It wont be like the old LRD, but an interesting interpretation of what the modern LRD would have evolved into.

Shogun with LR design is my personal guess.

The real die hards wont like it and suspect many journalists wont either, but I don't like the current LR range (too precious too big, RRE/LRDS way too expensive (VW golf better imho) and easily damaged) and want a modern LR for day to day living down at my place in Exmoor, that can do the odd run up country in some sort of comfort.

Nope, Evoque and Disco Sport are off a transverse mounted powertrain i.e car derived architecture.
LR's most off road capable architecture is longitudinal and underpins current Discovery 5, Range Rover Sport and full fat RR. Instagram: l90andy

Well let's see, September is not too far away now Thumbs Up

The 'die-hards' won't like it whatever it is, but let's face it they wont be buying it either so are not the target market! If it goes the way it seems to be heading it will more than likely appeal to previous Discovery 2/3/4 owners who want a decent vehicle to drive on road, that can tow, carry loads, can hold its own off road and that's not so overpriced that it negates the point of this type of vehicle.

I don't care what platform it's built on or which way the engine points, my criteria is:

Stylish and modern exterior, with presence and that is distinctive and recognisable as a Land Rover
Minimum of 35 mpg from an auto box
Comfortable interior that is rugged enough to stand up to family life
Good levels of reliable technology such as Apple Car Play
Prices to start in the £30-£40k price range

I live in hope Andy
