They are all LED headlights, so I assume they mean LED and Matrix LED, which going by those prices are a bargain. Two Matrix LED headlights for my Velar was £6000 inc VAT but excluding fitting.

Jeez - the issue with these (unwarranted IMO) high spares prices is that vehicle with what looks like minor damage end up getting written off. Rgds.

It’s not just new Defenders that have those sorts of prices, even quite basic small cars have reversing cams in the back of the car and puddle lights under the mirrors that cost ££’s - yes it’s one reason why modern cars get written off with little apparent damage but this isn’t a new thing it’s been like it for at least 10 years, I don’t see why it’s a surprise. I lost the security key cap off my last RRS’s passenger door handle- 2cm x 1cm x 1 cm not even body coloured was £6 but painted to match the one I lost was £27 Pangea Green D250 90 HSE with Air Suspension, Off-road Pack, Towing Pack, Black Contrast roof , rear recovery eyes, Front bash plate, Classic flaps all round, extended wheel arch kit and a few bits from PowerfulUK Expel Clear Gloss PPF to come
2020 D240 1st Edition in Pangea Green with Acorn interior. Now gone - old faithful, no mechanical issues whatsoever ever but the leaks and rattles all over the place won’t be missed!

Thanks.
Today I broke a rear indicator lense, found a hole in my intercooler hose and noticed leaking swivels. I wonder what those types of repairs would cost me on a new one. WARNING.

..that's just mind blowing, considering that components for it doesn't cost more than 250USD..

And those prices are for the sexy stuff. Last week I replaced front and rear pads/rotors on my wife’s TT Mk3. Quote from local Audi dealer, for both sets fitted, 1100€. Fixed price. Total cost of parts, all OEM, couple of hours fitting (plus a really good clean of the calipers, would Audi do that?), under 300€. The car is also due a service (oil and filter) and it’s 60k transmission fluid change. Again, 550€ for each item, so another 1100€. Parts will be about 100€ and again I’ll be doing it myself.

So for people who aren’t very car-savvy, that could be 2200€ in one year for basic wear and tear/servicing. Sadly, very few good local independents, and most focus on the French marques and a handful of brands which are popular locally such as Suzuki. That means Audi, an independent who doesn’t know the marque of DIY are the only opérions.

Unfortunately, despite these ‘savings’ Mrs Grenadier thinks the money is better saved on a sideboard rather than parts for the Def. Whistle Big Cry Monsieur Le Grenadier

I've not been everywhere, but it's on my list.....

From my experience LR are not much out of kilter with any other manufacturer for parts. Modern car bits are expensive end of. I factor in 1k for trim bits and scuffs on every car I own come time to swap interior damage really stacks up with our use case but all factored in the ownership planning. 110 MY23.5 X Dynamic HSE

That may be OK for regular vehicles. Most of which are written off with minor damage or scrapped when a big repair bill is presented. They are basically disposable. The Defender was intended for hard use, which often involves breakages. If a (Defender) can't be fixed fairly easily and for a reasonable price then it really isn't fit for purpose. WARNING.
