I've found a 24 inch, 1/2 inch drive breaker bar can take the nut off without tapping out the staked section, no problem

Strange I’ve heard nightmare stories about removing them 🤔

Assuming you are on about the stake nut on the axle I’ve always just used a 1/2dr socket on my impact gun, any good quality breaker bar would do just avoid the chinesium stuff from eBay Thumbs Up 90 wolf - Jasmin http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic39408.html

I had no issues removing the axle but with my normal breaker bar, which I think is a Halfords advanced one

I always use scaffolding poles and keep a few different lengths in the workshop. Cheap and un-bendable! Thumbs Up

Far from unbendable! Over the years I have bent many scaff tubes, albeit not on the Defender.

Halfords ones are as good as any for casual user. Cheers

I can vouch for the Halfords breaker bar. Worked fine on mine.

I too can vouch for the halfords 1/2" drive. Found one at the side of the road probably 15 years ago. It's done everything I've thrown at it, including leveraging a 4ft scaffold extension. Did the axle stake nuts with it six months or so back too no problem > 110 XS Double Cab

Halfords Professional Breaker Bar 24" 1/2" Drive £28

Purchased to use in conjunction with 52mm Wheel Bearing Stake Nut Socket
A 2M length on Key Clamp Scaffoldoing was used over the top of this to break them loose,
at 210 Nm / 150lbf.ft...man they are tight Exclamation

Basic Bar on its own is a good one...seems up to the jobs asked of it... Thumbs Up
