You can buy a new "take off" spare wheel carrier from Twisted for around £50
You shouldn't need a new DMF at 60,000 miles |

Swing away will take the weight off the door and hinges and they will both last much longer. The weight is transferred to the frame.

My one started leaking like a this week, it seems my new one is on back order so i rebuilt it with the X8R kit from eBay, bit of a faff but 60 miles done and it seems to be holding up, i will be keeping a very close eye on it

The O/P's Defender has the later rear door which is much stronger and able to take the weight of the wheel.
So, although they are a nice accessory there's less need for a swing away wheel carrier. My 110 is on 140,000 miles and the door/hinges are still perfect |

Just to close the loop on this… I took it to Henshall Engineering in Chelford whom I use to maintain my G4’s and he fitted the LOF HD clutch kit with new dual mass flywheel and clutch fork. He also popped a new rear main seal in and the assist pedal spring. It’s now superb to drive but sadly I have to sell it. It’s on eBay if anyone fancies it. 2003 110 G4 used in 03 and 06 events - its well travelled.
