Out of the two, I’m in favour of the Grenadier, though I’d prefer a short wheelbase. Only thing that bugs me on the Grenadier is the interior but I’d get used to it.

EVs are coming no doubt about it but they’ve still got a long way to go before they can be the sole answer to ICE, and I’ll be hanging on as long as I can and I’m sure there is plenty more out there that share those views. 24MY 90 D250 HSE, Tasman Blue

I don't think its a sure thing that EVs are here to stay in the medium term. Other technology is available which is getting research investment at the moment, including hydrogen combustion or other synthetic fuels. Liquid fuel still offer significant benefits over battery technology for 'working' vehicles, ones which can't be off the road for 8+ hours at a time (eg. trucks).

I still struggle to understand how the UK electric infrastructure is going to be able to charge up everyones cars overnight if we all come back and plug a 7kW charger in - we seem very close to the max capacity at the moment.

We are going to have to sort out how to heat (and potentially) cool our homes too in the future using electricity, which I expect to require further grid capacity. 2005 Td5 90 XS

Personally I think the question for a buyer, certainly in the short term (remember it’ll be decade before ICE are banned from sale on UK and other 1st world roads, but that can always change) is less about whether they want an EV or ICE as whether they want an SUV (in the true American sense as opposed to the EU ‘catch-all’ categorisation) or a utilitarian SUV.

While I agree that the Grenadier and Rivian are targeted at slightly different buyers (and I'd consider myself more in Grenadier's target market), I think you're wrong about EV or ICE not being a consideration for a buyer. Once you've driven an EV for any length of time, the thought of going back to the inconvenience, noise and awkwardness of an ICE is really a tough sell. Though I will say one of the few exceptions would be for a utility vehicle, as you do get more of a mechanical feel with ICE.

Nevertheless, I am still looking forwards to the first real utility EVs. The Cybertruck is one real candidate, albeit quite big. Being an ICE is a significant negative factor with the Grenadier, and if they don't get it out the door soon it will be left behind.

ElectricClassic who have done a few nice conversions including a lovely series. Claim they use less electric off-road

I agree.

The US market will be the toughest to crack - entrenched ownership of V8's and usage of petrol.

The comparison is not like-for-like in any way IMHO.

Pretty much every EV has fallen short of it's claims for charge and mileage.

I would never buy a Tesla product, ever. Rgds.

A combination of Musk being an arse, poor quality control/build quality and the gimmick factor.

I may change my mind but do not hold your breath! Whistle Rgds.

As Landrover drivers we can’t comment on build quality. Also the age old comment sorry that part is on back order. The joy of having done more miles in a courtesy car than your own. A company run by a mad man or in Landrover’s case designed by a mad man. Dedicated fans that won’t here a word said against them.

So all in all most of us would settle nicely into Tesla ownership.

Nonsense - the price difference is plus £30k.

You have experience of Tesla ownership?

Why are you here? Rgds.

Initially amino acids, then evolution of mammals after the dinosaurs were wiped out, and an incredibly successful procreation line avoiding all diseases and accidents up to puberty.
That's the short version. Now left.
