When switching out to the one piece shafts, are there any other parts required during the procedure? (seals, new bolts, gaskets, etc.?)

This is already on my to-do list and I want to make sure I have all the necessary items before I attempt the work. Won't do to have it all apart only to find out that there are missing parts.

Drive flange paper gaskets needed, but that should be all, unless you have problems with the drive flange bolts.

It is about a simple a job as you can get. Unbolt drive flange, extract old shaft, insert new shaft, bolt drive flange.

Britpart do the complete kit if you need it, gaskets and bolts. You're better off changing them for cap head bolts (high tensile), they're much easier to get out as you've got more clearance around them. Thumbs Up

I used:

BX110095M.L8 x 2 (like others have said, there are better bolts to use)
571752.Z8 x 2
LR072977.C8
LR072976.C8

I also used some left over diff oil to help stick the gasket in place and smear over the splines / where the bearing sits;
Some "Big Wipes" to clean the mating surfaces; and
Some copper grease for the wheel nuts.

I jacked one side at a time, so the hubs didn't move too much and I didn't lose any of the diff oil. 2011 CSW XS 90

Thanks, blackwolf!

I just wanted to be sure I had everything once the time comes and get it all done in one go! Thumbs Up

Those who've had them fitted, how long have you had them on for (approx mileage)?

Or range of mileage before the original 2 piece variants fail?

I fitted 300tdi disco single part ones to mine, noticeably thinner and lighter than the standard 90 2 part ones but removed more play.

As I don't abuse it off road or have an LS conversion so I'm confident they will be just fine. DEFENDER 90 TDCI XS,

I hope everyone is well and your land rovers make you happy

I fitted mine (britpart) two years ago and have covered 19000 miles without any issues. To be fair, thats hardly any off road use.

Done about 10k on mine with plenty of off road use. No issues at all.

I fitted mine around 2 years ago, but only put 10k miles on during that time.
