Is it true that they get £11.58 for each jab and an extra £5 for a home visit?

Hi Darren, Private Eye. I believe the money goes to whosoever contracted with the NHS. BTW did see a picture of two doctors looking very pleased with themselves for administering 2340 inoculations in a weekend. I'll take my hat off to them for their diligence and hard work but the smug look, in their photograph, might have more to do with the c£27000 paid out. TBF they did put in.

Had my first Pfizer jab last week, very well organised and run operation at the local surgery, no waiting other than had to sit around for 10 minutes after the jab. No side effects for me but my other half had the shivers in the night for a couple of hours.

My wife had her jab on Sunday. Sore arm, headache and a bit tired on Monday. Nothing more serious. Her jab was as part of NHS, so separate tent at the mass vaccine centre. Very impressive setup.
It may take a while to get the NHS in motion, but once it's going there's not stopping it! Mother-in-law had flu-like symptoms after her jab. Not well at all apparently. Bad new is that if you feel bad after the first, you'll feel worse after the 2nd. |

Must say, I'm not sure why you can't DIY. In France you don't get prescribed a flu jab, you just buy it in the pharmacy. Clearly most people then pop to their GP to have it stuck in their arm for the cost of an appointment (35€ locally to me) but you can - as I do, albeit after an enormous build up because I hate needles - inject it DIY if you wish. Then you only pay the 12€ for the jab and don't have to wait a week or so for an appointment. Why can't they do that with the Covid jab? Diabetics manage perfectly well. Pop it in the post, quick YouTube video, perhaps a Zoom appointment if you want your hand held virtually, et voila, everyone done by next week. Or June.

Don’t know why they don’t put it into beer.
Take up would be quicker Self medication would be easier and socially distanced Top ups would be welcomed The pubs and restaurant trades would be saved The antibodies would end up in the water supply so benefiting anyone that is tea total...

I’d vote for you...
We had ours in December - as front-liners. Haven’t got a date for the second though. It’d be very interesting to quantitatively measure my antibody response now. Hep B vaccine takes at least 2 doses to produce adequate titres, so I wonder whether COVID’s the same and one shot really isn’t sufficient? |

Just remember to keep your vaccine card safe, you’ll probably need to provide it to attend various events in future, even flights or holidays.
It’s only thin card so mine is safe with my passport  Ride like you stole it!!

My wife's a nurse, she treats patients in their homes so they don't need to visit hospitals, but she is still waiting to be vaccinated and is getting nowhere trying to get a date when they'll get to her. She works for a company that's contracted by the NHS rather than working for the NHS directly so doesn't appear to be a priority. On the other hand my daughter is 22 and has been vaccinated because of her job with the council, although she only talks to the public on the phone & never goes anywhere except the office. So from where I'm sitting its a totally crazy mismanaged system.

Only fools and those with severe allergy problems! I hear inhaling steam warms the lungs to the optimum temp for covid transmission! who would have thought?
