I fitted the Britpart one piece shafts a couple of weeks ago , time will tell but they are doing the job at the mo and they’re really pretty good value .

One thing to point out is that they’re shipped unpainted so I etch primed , primed and sprayed them satin black.
Another member put a pic up having not painted them and they were pretty ugly with the surface rust . https://www.instagram.com/hustynminepark/

Thanks for all the advice & help.

I was pleasantly surprised to find that the job was easy & quick as everyone had suggested.

A couple of hours including finding the various tools and coffee breaks. Very Happy

There's still some slack when I ty to turn a back wheel (with diff lock & handbrake on) but not so much as before. I'm not sure tbh what's normal?

I'll take it for a test drive & see how it feels, but I'm wondering if I'll be looking at the diff next. I presume that's the next thing?

Took it for a drive & I can't believe what a huge difference changing the half shafts has made. Very Happy

Is it advisable to change half shafts and flanges at the same time? If not, which tend to slacken/fail first? Monsieur Le Grenadier

I've not been everywhere, but it's on my list.....

In my experience drive flanges fail first due to them being a softer material. They are almost a built in weak link that is easily replaced.

New parts with new parts is often best yes. Then you know it’s all just right but depends on budget. I doubt I’d go back from the Ashcroft HD type now (Or 1 piece). 2 prince set up is horrendous for ‘fretting’ seeing as the ends of the splines are completely exposed to the elements and can fill with water too. Diesel$ Live$ Matter. ⛽️🛢️👨‍🔧🧰⚙️ RED, WHITE & BOOST! 🇬🇧

Ashcroft shafts and end plates
I fitted a set of Ashcroft shafts and hub drive plates a couple of weeks back. Do you assemble the shaft and end plate on dry without greasing the spline as per the original, or apply grease or oil?

Grease all splines except the spines to diff, if I remember rightly the diff end I just put diff oil over it as a bit of a pre fit lube.

I piece DM's you donn't need any greasing just oil lube the diff splined end.
Lightly grease both sides of the gaskets too and mating surfaces. Diesel$ Live$ Matter. ⛽️🛢️👨‍🔧🧰⚙️ RED, WHITE & BOOST! 🇬🇧

Grease or lubricate or copper slip the out ends where they go into dm.

Interesting why is the dm bolt snapping a greater issue with pumas over earlier lr? Certainly my experience. Cheers

I'm not sure that ex-Disco ones are right for a 110. It's only in more recent years that the part numbers for both 90 and 110 have been the same. In the 1990's, they were different and the Disco half shafts were shared with the 90 of that era. Darren

A punt, but from all the posts on here (in lots of different topics) it looks like they're the right ones.

If not, they'll be for sale again shortly!
