Dropped the D5 off at the dealers today to have the load space re-trimmed got a 70 plate 110 as a loaner seems they have registered their 4pots as loaners - wonder if they are struggling to sell them, gets them off the new sales inventory I guess. 110 MY23.5 X Dynamic HSE

Definitely need 18’s

Not very elegant and battle damaged alloys look to be entirely down to the traction control strategy. Sad

The Land Rover Defender Is the 2021 MotorTrend SUV of the Year: https://www.motortrend.com/news/land-rover...-the-year/

"...Winner, Winner, Chicken Dinner

To conclude, summarize, and even proselytize, the new Land Rover Defender bowled us over: the design, both inside and out; the wonderful synchronization of the stout engine and yeoman transmission; the exceptional ride quality; its ambient nature; the baked-in, go-anywhere-on-the-planet capability; and its amazing value.
It's a heady and compelling mixture. Then there is the element that's not an official part of our six criteria but that I always lobby for: Winners should have some sort of X-factor, a secret sauce that reminds us why we chose to write about cars instead of refrigerators or computers. We love cars, trucks, and in this case SUVs. The Defender has these ineffable qualities in spades. The Defender received every first-place vote but one. See? It's special.

Seabaugh accurately summarized our thoughts: "Ignoring emotion, how can the Land Rover Defender not be our winner? No other vehicle here hits our six criteria so squarely in the mouth." And as Mike Tyson said and as the SUV segment is about to discover, everybody has a plan until they get punched in the mouth. Stellar work, Land Rover. We doff our pith helmets. ..."

Amazing value? Are they sure? What were the alternatives?
Maybe that's what happens if you never have to pay for your vehicle.

Interesting, the video that has been posted previously, quotes it as having 5 stars for safety in Europe, but I didn't think it's been tested by Euro NCAP yet?

Maybe because the car is good value in the USA where they pay equivalent to what other makers are charging, what the market rates for similar cars is, not what the highest amount customer can be pressed to pay like they do in Europe Pangea Green D250 90 HSE with Air Suspension, Off-road Pack, Towing Pack, Black Contrast roof , rear recovery eyes, Front bash plate, Classic flaps all round, extended wheel arch kit and a few bits from PowerfulUK Expel Clear Gloss PPF to come

The award is apparently a set of golden calipers, maybe JLR can give it to the QA team in Nitra to help check some of those panel gaps. Thumbs Up

Do you press the button to see if the dealer actually calls ....... or will they hide out of the way until you manage to persuade them to actually try and sell something rather than just take an order? Rolling with laughter

Ahh, that's what's inside... Very Happy

Now you’ve committed yourself to buying one - didn’t you read the small print before you dismantled it? Pangea Green D250 90 HSE with Air Suspension, Off-road Pack, Towing Pack, Black Contrast roof , rear recovery eyes, Front bash plate, Classic flaps all round, extended wheel arch kit and a few bits from PowerfulUK Expel Clear Gloss PPF to come

Don't know which part of the story is the worst:

Owned a new Defender for 2 weeks and so far it's spent 10 days at the dealer's; or

Goes in with one problem, comes out with a different problem; or

Returns to dealer with new set of problems, and 1st problem (which they didn't actually find a cause of) returns; or

Even with JLR giving this way more attention than any ordinary owner would normally get ~ it's still not fixed.

I think I'd be rolling back the 2 software updates before ordering a new "camera module". Is that even a thing that can be done?

And then it's picked up on by other media:
