Had a little afternoon shoot on Sunday as I needed to try and tackle the obstacles I struggled with last week.
Low diff engaged and it pretty non-eventful this time

So since having the windscreen and capping a replaced along with the screen and being back at the dealer a further 3 times to rectify the drivers foot well leak I have given up on them and gone for it my self.
All dash access points exposed and my hand searching around I found where water was and concluded its either the bulk head seal or capping - I could actually see it from above! I then rigged up a hose and waited for it to pour in - it didn't, not even a drop. So I put paper towels in sever places and waited for the rain that night. Following a search in here I went and purchased Sikafkex 291i which I then Masked up the bulk head seal and put a coating across.
A lot of people have said its hard to work with and warm it up but I used it as normal and found it no worse than silicon - though to get it out the tube meant I had to change hands a few times as I ran out of strength. A bit more on the inside of the bulkhead capping nuts and all done
A good finish in the end and not noticeable more than the gasket. Hopefully in now water tight! Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge |

Exmoor trim XS cubby box added - matches perfectly with the seats and gives the perfect driving position now
Also some Urban Truck mats to finish the luxurious interior

Great thread. I like other peoples woes with off roading. I love doing it but hate the thought of any damage and cleaning it is a PITA. Whats next Cake  |

Thanks, next bits for me are a full under seal being the major, an Ardsafe (box to hold an Ardcase) as it's always in the way! And a full detail for the bodywork to really make it shine.
I think I will be pretty happy then and will be just how I want it. Yes off roading is great - I'm only really on farmers fields and tracks and that's hard enough for a novice and also scary enough when it slides. A friend always says he finds it funny when I panic as the car is so capable - it's just me
Cleaning is hell even after a muddy road - luckily there is one place around with a jet wash and steamer that's fine with a bit of mud so straight there every time to get her cleaned up right away - you don't want mud staying underneath and corroding it it even quicker! |

Well its been a while but a few more bits done.
The car had a Parrot CK3100 which while was useful but didn't always keep a connection to my phone and wasn't a fan of having stuck on the dashboard. So i got a Parrot Asteroid Classic single din head unit, which has a very nice small screen, runs asteroid 1.5 and does all media bits such as Bluetooth calls, music, radio, iPod connection and internet radio. As in runs Asteroid i can put additional apps on (longs as they are for version 1.5) and they should work
I have two USB's, a jack and a iPod lead all beneath the drivers dash so i can connect anything up and place it there. Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge |

So i hadn't used the car for between 6 - 8 weeks!
So of course the battery was a little flat from standing. I had ringing in my ears all day as i disconnected it to charge but there wasn't enough charge to even bring the dash or ignition to life so i couldn't stop the alarm battery sounder from going off and sounded solidly for a good 10 minutes! Got the battery charged up and went for a long drive that day bring the battery to life again. Following that ordeal the engine light was showing due to the false start so borrowed a Scan Gauge II to clear it Click image to enlarge I now have a solar charger that i can mount to the windscreen and disconnect once im in the car from a connection that is to the side of the passenger seat from the battery. Has that cured the leak?if not have you sealed your windscreen as we'll? If you lift up the rubber seal after rain you can see if it's wet and allowing water in! |

Yes - its fully cured but i had the windscreen sealed when fitted.
For me it was the bulkhead seal. Water comes along the guttering and out the end, through the D bracket center. here it went back under the guttering and created a nice slow leak into the car behind the dash. |

it consisted of the following - Wash Clean with AG Shampoo (hot water) Wash Clean with G3 Detox(hot water) Wash / Dry Clay - Meguiers medium clay bar with AG Rapid detailer Wash Clean with G3 Detox(hot water) Wash / Dry Polish - AG SRP and Meguires scratch x 2.0 for anything a little heavier Glaze - Poor Boys Black hole (for black cars) Wax - Poor Boys Natty's paste (for black cars) Seal - Sealed with AG sealant Windows polish - AG Window polish Wheels seal - AG Wheel sealant Wheels / trim shine - AG Tyre black |
