Thanks. This winters job is to secure the top part of the tilt to protect camping gear. I am planning to build something similar to the patriot cage, with the addition of a removable shelf half way up.
I will post pictures to show you all how I get on |

I thought the front end was looking a little tired due to faded plastic so I decided to update it.
I resprayed the grill and surrounds in Brunel grey and bought myself a defender bonnet badge. The jury is still out on the badge and it may well be taken off soon. Anyway, here are the before and after shots ![]() Click image to enlarge ![]() Click image to enlarge Admin note: this post has had its images recovered from a money grabbing photo hosting site and reinstated ![]() |

Very nice, but think you need to loose one of the defender badges, grill or bonnet, but looks wrong with both.

I think you might be right. I remember back in the early 90's when I first passed my test and started driving a series 3. We used to wonder why people with series 2's had fitted series 3 wings....saying if you had a series 2 you should be proud and not mask it under the look of a series 3. Likewise, later when flat fronts were fitted to series 3's.
It will never be a puma, so why make it look like one......I will give it another week and if I still feel the same, that bonnet badge is coming off! |

I'm a fan of the small defender badge on your vehicle, we fitted one to our '13 90, but we do not have the large DEFENDER letters on the bonnet, which IMHO make the small badge "superfluous"?
However, the space where the badge is fitted cries out for something. Are there not other variations of that badge, relative to other models that would fit there? Pickles. |

I prefer the "LAND ROVER" in that place with "DEFENDER" underneath.

When I bought the car it had one of those fitted. It was too big (discovery sized letters) and fitted badly with wonky letters. I also could not live with the spacing. Land rover is two words!
However, agree it makes more sense if done properly when mated with the standard defender badge. The defender at the top of the forum page shows the correct spacing on a genuine badge....I wonder if they are available at that size and spacing. |

Andy, are they the factory spots that you have fitted to the bumper?

Hello Jimb1978
I have been thinking along similar lines... the bonnet graphics in my opinion look best as LAND ROVER correctly sized and spaced, as two words. The central 'vertical section' designed to accept the DEFENDER badge, works well, and together reads correctly. I see many Defenders (including mine) where this 'second' badge is absent, does anyone know why? I'm less than impressed with the quality of the options for the DEFENDER graphic 'labels' avalable, including the OEM Land Rover version. Maybe someone has found a good solution out there, I am happy to alter from original especially if someone has really produced something excellent. There looks to be a very nice (top quality) producer of rear mounted badges featured on DEF2N, might be worth looking into this further... ![]() My lettering was altered to match the Stornoway Grey base colour, the bonnet is also Silver Carbon wrapped. Have found these DEFENDER Badges from SPLandrovers. Correct 3D Curve and in Titan Silver, they also have the 3M VHB tape on the rear (so the cost saving poor quality adhesive tape option has been avoided) I will take a closer look now at this working as a good complimentary DEFENDER Badge to the standard L A N D R O V E R Badge fitted. All will be either Stornoway Grey or I may return L A N D R O V E R to Titan Silver. I have also have one for the Rear which is its intended position. ![]() Click image to enlarge SPLandrovers (Top Quality Badge and good price at <£10) SKIP https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic83242.html Last edited by X4SKP on 12th Mar 2014 9:53pm.
