Thanks all for advice.
Going to go for fully synthetic oil (probably Castrol Magnetic) and buy genuine service kit from somewhere such as Duckhams.

the service portfolio I got with the defender says 12k for the td5 or 12 months.
I guess if I could afford it then every 6k but it will not have hard use (not all the time anyway :wink ... |

I always check mine when its cold.
When I first get mine in November from a dealer it was reading above the upper level but I have dropped about 3/4 litre and its spot on now |
