I thought that this was really interesting.

It does kind of make JLR’s tie up with the Red Cross look like marketing virtual signalling.

Hope you enjoy.

Thumbs Up

It is a curious thing but, I look at everything that 70 series Land Cruiser is and could be and it really is the perfect vehicle platform. Everything you need and nothing frivolous or soft. Dependability built in. I really do think that the western World might have become too comfortable or too used to being comfortable. The truth of the matter is that I and I suspect a good number of others on these here forums would love the chance to own one of these. I would even go as far as to suggest that given the demise of "the Defender" that it wouldn't be a difficult leap across the marque divide. In fact given the current offerings on the market it would be a little like coming home and being welcomed by a familiar family hound. It's not the same one you had growing up, but it is close enough in essence to be the worthy successor. But of course it is nigh on impossible to get one...

Which is a shame. Although, it is almost worth moving country for mind... Rolling Eyes Shocked

This is where I do feel the Grenadier will become popular. Up to date for emissions etc and still on a tried and tester ladder/axle set up. 2008 2.4 110 Utility XS.

some time ago I saw a guy with a white Discovery 300, it was his new and latest toy.

He asked what I thought of it ?

My reply "It must have been hell getting the 'UN' stickers off the doors"

Depends how fixable it ends up being out in the bush by someone with basic mechanic skills and no computer.

Turnover ''650 Vehicles a Month''... Shocked

If true (20+ a day / 7800 a year) this represents a reasonable market for a bespoke 'no-nonsense' 4x4...

This will probably not trouble Land Rover with sales of the new Defender being so strong, with a vehicle now aimed at a completely different market, but it's good to see the approach of adapting an 'old school' work horse to any number of end-uses still exists.

If there's a Grenadier simple enough, they stand a chance of competing along these lines.

Good find... thanks for posting markb110 SKIP

There's just something about the Grenadier that puts me off, I can't put my finger on it, but I can't see it being a thing in the long term. I think the days of a simple fixable truck have long gone; I would dare to imagine that the BMW engine in the Grenadier is a tad more complex than a 2286cc 4 pot. Oh woe, oh woe
My crusty old landrover,
It will not go.

I think our minds might change about the Grenadier when it’s out on the road for 12 months , and as for the no nonsense Toyota it’s great Thumbs Up BUT I like air con , heated screen , heated seats , central locking in my 2011 110 😎😎😎👍

That dealer has been in Gib for years.... when I was last there, about 15 years back, I took some nice pics down at Eurpoa point of a compound just full of LC's, all with snorkels and Michelin XS tyres.... looked brilliant!

The most annoying thing is our charitable donations and tax contributions can be used to buy one of these, BUT we can't have one for personal use, no matter how much you try.

You can get them in the UK. A few to choose from if they float your boat. If you want new you’ll need to have the V8 I think. For the old school 6 you’d have settle for one that’s been pre-run in.

Any car can have problems but to be able to get it back in action is what counts. Take something as simple as running out of fuel. Anything up to a tdi and it is easily sorted. Post tdi and you are in bother if away in a remote area. 1982 88" 2.25 diesel

^^ That's interesting that they can sell Euro 4 and 5 vehicles as new and all vehicles are LEZ compliant...
