Cat. The ONLY gearbox solution is to change for automatic, a common change these days with the TDci and one I was told to consider last time, when the Ashcroft shaft one went in. So the big dilemma?????
Yes the big ‘bang’ and loss of drive is somewhat reminiscent of transfer lever jumping outa gear and I did automatic go for it but No that ‘bang’ is well ingrained in my land rover ethic. Bollocs not again.
I’d just put a full tank of diesel in as well oh! And new oil just last week. Big Cry

seriously though I think I'm on my 4th shaft Big Cry

it is a painful and diabolical position to be in does raise the question of 'fit for purpose' and how we were even able to get into such a position....a bit like the front axle casing issue. Big Cry

glad you've made it - and hopefully the tesla took a little of the pain away?

I wasn't thinking it a jumped out of gear. After almost 100k I found that my diff was occasionally going into diff lock with no immediate and obvious tell tales. I believe this has been a trait from new and over time caused excessive wear. The first obvious signs of this were the 1st adapter shaft going at approx 25k miles and at about the same time all the suspension bushes needed replacing Sad

from in the cabin you would think the diff was fully engaged in the open diff position. however crawling underneath and the diff lock tab can be further pushed into the open position.

Seeking advice on anyone who has fitted the "Entreq Mt82" upgrade and also views of this design vs the LOF MT82 option. The former design follows the original LR design with use of better material.

My thoughts, on the Entreq
1) No lubrication.
2) No friction reducing coating.
3) No anti corrosion coating.
4) No change of design, just a change of material grade.
5) Eur 1,199.... very expensive for what it is.

7) It's sold by Entreq who have patchy record in customer service. It's a shame they don't have a UK distributor to take care of that side of it. 2007 110 TDCi Station Wagon XS

and its 1200 euros!!

my def was built about the same time as Caterhams and has had 2 standard shafts at fairly low mileages, original and replacement, both became clonky, I now have an Ashcroft one and so far so good. DEFENDER 90 TDCI XS,

What are peoples thoughts on the LOF extreme single piece shaft?

Is it OTT for a daily driver? More vibrations through the vehicle? 2008 2.4 110 Utility XS.

Had a LOF fitted since Oct 20 and still no issues so far.

I had one fitted November 22 as well as their Power Spec clutch to my daily and as mentioned, you wouldn’t know it was fitted.

It seems a no brainer to go for the shaft with the least amount of moving parts (LOF EXTREME) In that case. 2008 2.4 110 Utility XS.

There is also the IRB developments (site sponsor) solution to consider, which I really like as “The new shaft uses the same main bolt (to attach to the gearbox)/same torque as per the original and thus ensures that the gearbox main shaft has the correct clamping force applied to it.”

Its an old argument is it lack of grease? ,or poor alignment? or poor materials that causes the problem?....if its alignment causing the problem (which my money is on) the shaft is the weak point so breaks,if you replace it with a one piece shaft you may move the weak point into the gearbox.

what we need is a truck that has had a couple of shaft changes and then a lof one piece/irb kit shaft is inserted and wait to see how long it lasts or whether there is any gearbox problems.
