Regarding the the flower trough below the windscreen, could have a nice display in there every spring. No idea what it’s true purpose might be, but a secondary use will be to ensure the wiper spindles are below the bonnet line for pedestrian safety. 2007 110 TDCi Station Wagon XS

I have to say that the plant trough is extremely hard to explain using conventional thought processes! Perhaps in due course an explanation will be forthcoming.

It does explain the "missing" wiper that was so widely commented upon earlier in the thread.

The view of the scuttle/wiper is an odd one. Other photos show clearly that the vehicle has two wiper arms (as is required to achieve screen coverage) and that the blades rest at the base of the screen.

However, it is refreshing to see that Ineos appear to be trying ideas out and questioning traditional methods, in order to find the best solutions.

I only wish the messy side graphics (integration of the airline fixing rails) and the front end proportions (clamshell bonnet/grille/headlamp combination) didn´t mess up a very honest, functional and well organised design. 1998 Tdi 90 SW,

If that wiper is ‘production’ and there must be the second one not fitted, the water clearing of the screen is going to be rubbish, Just like a proper Land Rover Rolling with laughter 2015 90 XS SW Bowler

Imagine how much de-iceer fluid will be needed to free the wiper arm when rain water or snow in the flower trough freezes over on a cold night. Pangea Green D250 90 HSE with Air Suspension, Off-road Pack, Towing Pack, Black Contrast roof , rear recovery eyes, Front bash plate, Classic flaps all round, extended wheel arch kit and a few bits from PowerfulUK Expel Clear Gloss PPF to come

Compare with this photo of a later vehicle. Makes a little more sense with two wipers.....

I don't know why there's been so much angst over the single wiper. It's clearly just the bare minimum required for testing the first prototype vehicle and not the finished product. Darren

My query is all about the trough. Clearly, there's two wipers on the later prototypes, and they appear to be very conventionally parked at the base of the windscreen; but the trough still appears to be there.

It just looks like a convenient fixed position for the wipers to me, and is a consequence of the design of having the bonnet hinges immediately below the windscreen. I don't know how high the bonnet can be lifted but it appears that the relative position of the hinges means the trough has to be deep enough to allow the rear edge of the bonnet to clear the wiper arms. Darren

Presumably because they’ve tried to fit a windscreen you can actually see out of onto something which is desperately trying to look like an old Defender, there’s nowhere else for them to go. Maybe the resulting trough of leaf mulch and filth will be a deliberate reference to the crap that old Land Rovers accumulate around their windows.
