2012 Defender 90 Puma 2.2 HT Blenheim Silver
Central locking module
Hi i need some advise please,
I have a 2012 Puma, and am fitting central locking using the OEM actuators (wiring was already there)
the system is all installed but not working
The car originally had the old style key fob, but it was stolen with original keys ( and recovered) in 2016 ,and when i got it back from repairs it had the new style fobs supplied to operate the alarm

question is what type of control unit is likely to be fitted now and can you program the new style control if that was changed when the keys were replaced ?

how can i find out which unit i have , and what options do i have to get CL working

many thanks

if you have the new type fobs, then you will have the later spec black ALM module (part number starts with a DH not a CH) look behind drivers speaker. These can be programmed to do central locking but finding someone competent can be interesting.

My Puma is a 2013 with the key with the chrome strip which I believe yours will be? I had a nightmare trying to get a key coded as no independents have the software (one mentioned Land Rover want £10 000 for the licence, not sure how true that is) and in the end, had to go to a main dealer as they're the only ones with the software to do anything with the later immobiliser (2013-2016).

Blackbox claim the Nanocom to do this job. In this case, it seems to be just à few hundred bucks...

Thought there was an update recently that meant they could access the later model alarm system. Searching for my first Defender...and started just as Covid hit, so talk about timing.

5 months after starting the search I found it, and here is the details

I think the ALM unit is part of the 1.36 beta Nanocom software, I'm not sure what it can do tho.

See nanocom site, at bottom click on ALM section https://www.nanocom-diagnostics.com/produc...-24-22-kit

Reading the documents I’m no more enlightened as to whether you can enable central locking on the ALM module with the puma 2.4/ 2.2 software.

They have a contacts page where you can highlight your specific requirements and they will be able to advise if the nanocom can do it, what version you will need and the steps to follow if it can. https://www.nanocom-diagnostics.com/contact

If it can do what you want it may be cost effective to purchase via one of the group buys as it provides so many other benefits. Alternatively reach out to members on here that have one locally with the 2.4/2.2 puma software.

The website clearly states what the nancom will do regarding the alarm a d key fob settings for pre my2015 defenders....but it is a little hazy on the my2015 defenders.. .... If anybody on here has a My2015 defender and uses the nancom to access the alarm mode I would be very surprised but would purchase one the next day.
