Did a transport job for a series 1 86" today, got 466 miles from one tank, average is now 30 mpg, pretty impressed, especially when we consider most of that is when towing. 2011 110 USW

Went to Belgium and back over the last two days, no worries. Also saw quite a few Defenders in Belgium, including several SVX 110s. 2011 110 USW

I do tend to drive pretty slowly...got no choice when punters want jobs done for more or less free...dunno why I bother sometimes...

I'm limited to 60 when towing anyway. Excluding things like rushing for a ferry, I'll do 60 with an unladen trailer, 55 or so when loaded, (less if its heavy or not going far) and without the trailer I tend again to sit at about 60. As you say, what can you do with the ten minutes, and the difference in fuel is very noticeable. On a nice steady run up motorways its pretty good, but yesterday I did a run Oxford - Norfolk, all twisty roads and roundabouts (especially Milton Keynes) fuel consumption went nuts, its all the slowing and accelerating that kills it. 2011 110 USW

I was pleasantly surprised to find mpg on my new (to me) 110 TD5 USW averaging 30-32 with a mix of motorway, A-road and city driving. Can't do much above 60mph on the motorway as it gets too noisy and there is too much vibration etc. Andy

Thats where the Tdci is different, it is just as comfy and quiet at 70 as at 50... 2011 110 USW 1973 Series III 1-Ton 1972 Series III 1-Ton Cherrypicker 1969 IIA 1-Ton 1966 IIA 88" |

Well its finally getting to me...the itch to "play" with the 110 that is. I am thinking of a snorkel but I want one of the old style ones with tubes and a mushroom top on, don't like the look of the modern ones. Some side steps would also be on the list as my Mrs struggles to get in and out. I am resisting fitting any chequerplate though. 2011 110 USW
