Not very much to report,the old beast is still doing everything I ask of it. Had the brakes replaced last week, new all around.

What size were the Michelin tyres you fitted on the standard steel (non-Wolf) rims? 2008 2.4 110 Utility XS.

No, they are back on the standard 5.5" rims now. It was a set of FC rims I had issues with as they don't fit on a Defender. 2011 110 USW

Not much to update on this, its just plodding on nicely. Booked in for its MOT in a few weeks, can't believe its nearly 12 years old.
I did recently swap the rims to a second set of Wolf rims to run my Michelins on. Two are from paddock and are every so slightly different to factory. The others are one I got given which seems to be a genuine civvy item, the other two are 1997 Wolf rims which were still in military paint.
The indicator switch gave up recently meaning I had no low beam. A new one solved the problem.

So finally after 12 years of ownership my 110 finally terrified me. Whilst driving to go on holiday, I was confronted by smoke billowing into the cabin through the gearbox/handbrake area. I called the fire brigade who responded very quickly and confirmed an electrical fire which they put out. They disconnected the electrics and confirmed it's safe, but whatever was arcing (people have suggested a broken earth so it was earthing through the handbrake) has scorched and melted the wiring and fittings around the handbrake lever. I'm currently in Prague, getting home tomorrow but no idea how I'll get the vehicle home (fingers crossed my recovery will do it) or how much the repairs will cost.
I did noticed what looked like bits of burned rubber pipe hanging off underneath, dunno if they are fuel lines, part of the aircon or what.
I think it will take me a while to trust it again.

If the handbrake has ignited the fault will be a broken earth connection between the engine/gearbox and the chassis/battery, so the alternator is earthed to the battery by the handbrake cable. If you fit a new earth connection the vehicle should be drivable, subject to there being no collateral damage.
