If you are not VAT registered it makes no sense what so ever to buy the hard top.
Looking at the pricing, the Disco5 HSE commercial is cheaper than the Defender Commercial and you get a second row of seats as well. But it is fugly 110 D250 SE HT

It seems Richard Agnew is now running around in a P400 90

If there is little difference in purchasing cost between the commercial & SW versions, best consider which would have the best resale value - I'd have thought the sw would retain more?

If your a business then the actual TAX / VAT designation makes a huuuge difference.......currently the 'classic' Defender can only be run commercially in 90 HT form, a SW would attract company car tax and be non VAT qualifying

Really?? I think my acountant has it wrong then Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter . I've been running my 63 plate 110 USW as a commercial vehicle since new and claimed the VAT back.
The BiK is a huge amount different to the SW version, talking £k's, as it's only me and the MRs and the 2 dogs it made sense not to have the 3rd row seats and no rear windows.
Now looking at the 110 hardtop to replace it with

ALL my Defenders are commercial including the SW, I've claimed vat back on every one. BIK is allocated as commercial. 130's have feeling's as well you know Smile

The issue is it seems the growth in "commercial" vehicles has led HMRC to look at the issue and bring forward a few test cases that might alter the current status quo.

How has Landrover managed to make a vehicle which is so large on the outside but has so little space inside? There is less space in the back than there is in a Yeti, which is - I think - significantly smaller externally. It's a remarkable achievement.

Especially when you compare overall length, the new 90 is only 5cm shorter than the old 110 and almost 20cm wider, the front and rear leg room in the new one is huge though. Pangea Green D250 90 HSE with Air Suspension, Off-road Pack, Towing Pack, Black Contrast roof , rear recovery eyes, Front bash plate, Classic flaps all round, extended wheel arch kit and a few bits from PowerfulUK Expel Clear Gloss PPF to come
2020 D240 1st Edition in Pangea Green with Acorn interior. Now gone - old faithful, no mechanical issues whatsoever ever but the leaks and rattles all over the place won’t be missed!

They also have a 110 hardtop in with steel wheels. Loved the look and the load space had a very tough chunky feel didn't realise they had built load hatches into the floor for more storage which is handy. 110 MY23.5 X Dynamic HSE

Plenty space for the dogs, no passenger space though.
