I'd ask Bilt Hamber. They're very approachable.

Does anyone know if say you use Dinitrol as your first rot protection application then 3 or 4 years down the line you think perhaps BH is worth a try or other similar respected products can you overspray the Dinitrol after obviously giving it a full clean and allowing it to dry correctly or do the previously used products need to be totally removed?

Hi Sulisuli,

Both Bilt Hamber and Dinitrol are excellent products. I have used both.

I would say generally a product will stick to itself better than another.
Unless you strip back a chassis / bodywork to its core it is likely that however well cleaned previous treatments will remain.

For me Dinitrol on the Defender (factory finish) it applied really well and has lasted,
when needed to be 'refreshed' I will use the same.

I have seen Dinitrol applied over a 'riot' of previous coating, (on a MKII Jaguar) waxoyl, 'galvanised' paint, red oxide,
hammerite etc and it looked good, the body shop did use a degreasing spay and left the body in their oven overnight before protecting with Dinitrol, they said they had done this before (Austin Healey) and the Dinitrol had both taken well
and lasted, so from this I'd say Dinitrol would probably over finish previous coatings.

I've used Bilt Hamber on a Caravan Chassis, again really impressed, it was previous 'untreated' with only a painted
factory finish. SKIP

Someone asked about going over Dinitrol with other products, I do not know the answer to that. But I do know that Dinitrol can be used to go over other products as I have just had that done on my 110DCPU. I have a thread showing the work here: https://www.defender2.net/forum/post797926.html#797926
