Dinitrol rustproofing treatment system
For the past 31 years I've always used Waxoyl to protect the 3 Defenders i've owned during this time. However recently speaking with the new owner of our local repair garage in Ashbourne he noted that Dinitrol is a better protective solution. I've been looking at these kit bundles online and interested in trialing the products. But interested in any feedback from fellow Defender owners who've applied Dinitrol before. How long does the treatment last once applied? https://www.tiltrak.com/car-rust-proofing/

+1 for Bilt Hamber.
I haven’t touched mine for 4 years now and it still fine

Ultimately it doesn’t matter what you put on, as long as the chassis is very well prepped and the protection is well applied.

An unpleasant job that will take up a weekend to do. Plus cleaning the muck of a few days before to allow for drying.
Very satisfying once you’ finished though. 👍🏻 2002 td5 90 county hardtop

Without trawling though that site, is there an aerosol version or is it all compressor applied?
I don't have access to, nor use a compressor and used Dinitrol Aerosol last time. Diesel$ Live$ Matter. ⛽️🛢️👨‍🔧🧰⚙️ RED, WHITE & BOOST! 🇬🇧

Up until last year I had treated my various vehicles to a bit of Waxoyl if I thought they deserved it.
Last August I splashed out on my (now sold) 2010 Defender and had a full professional Dinatrol treatment.
Well, I definitely wouldn’t use Dinatrol again:
It no doubt will be good for the next owner.
For me though it was always such a pain to do anything too my car from then on.
Everything was coated in sticky black carp that also meant any tools I used had to be cleaned with brake cleaner.
Every job took longer and was messy, no bolts undo by hand once loosened, any place you put your arm you get the siht on you.

I will only use waxoyl on anything I plan on keeping from now on. A good dose after purchase, then just a quick top up when it might need it. Not too messy, most blows away in the wind when you spray it on, and the few drips are easily wiped away.

If you don’t plan on doing your own maintenance all well and good. But, if you are anything like me doing all your own repairs, then I would steer clear of the sticky black stuff.

Just my opinion as a keeper of vehicles, not a person who wants it too look good when I sell.

Not experienced the problem above with mine and I use dinitrol, but it may depend on which dinitrol and how much was applied, I just gave mine a thin coating 8 years ago and top up any scrapes, no corrosion but it does live in a garage most of the time, I have done a few jobs like replacing the diffs and never registered that the dinitrol made it any more difficult DEFENDER 90 TDCI XS,

Bilt Hamber's stuff comes in 750ml aerosols or plastic containers to brush on. I used 23 cans of the various aerosols on my 110.

Ha, it's one of those things you don't like to think about, but you do get some discount for bulk purchases at BH and I think it was worth it to protect my van long term.

Oh totally agree. I did my USW myself when it was new, I had access to a compressor and a pit at work. Neither option were available the second time it needed done so took it to a specialist. Probably need to top it up next year so thinking about going down the aerosol route. If it keeps the rot at bay it has to be worth every penny!

Does anyone know if say you use Dinitrol as your first rot protection application then 3 or 4 years down the line you think perhaps BH is worth a try or other similar respected products can you overspray the Dinitrol after obviously giving it a full clean and allowing it to dry correctly or do the previously used products need to be totally removed? 2015 HT XS 90
