Thank you Hank! My main goal is to avoid of alternator cabling but if there is no other solution I will go ahead for this, thanks again!

Finally, I had some time and got the result. It is working from the ECU (NNN)

I will create and post a summary.

Good afternoon. Please tell me how you connected the VDO tachometer? Have you connected it to pin 19 of the black ECU connector? When the ignition is turned on (before the engine starts working) is the tachometer needle moving?

I purchased a tachometer from VW Jetta mk1, connected it to pin 19, but the arrow does not move from 0. I want to understand what the problem may be - whether the tachometer is faulty, or something else... Thanks!

Hi Bingo!
You need to make a PCB to convert the signal for the VDO.
I attached the schematics. Any NPN transistor is fine.
I think you will need to enable the RPM output of the ECU but let's see if the PCB is enough or not.
If you have questions, let me know.
Cheers

Hello, Klacinak (Unfortunately, I do not know your name...)!

Thank you for the quick response! Unfortunately, I don't quite understand the circuit - the details marked with circles, as far as I understand, are resistors. Please tell me, what is the nominal value of their resistance? Thanks!

Hi Bingo,

their value is 1 kilo-ohm. 1/4 Watt is enough, does not need bigger.
Cheers

Hi all
could the signal, coming from ECU Pin 19, switched on/off via Nanocom?
somewhere in the forum I've seen a picture of the nanocom screen there was shown
"Tacho: enable/disable"
but I can not find this picture right now and I didn't find this "switch" on my nanocom

Background:
I fitted a used VDO rev counter with the above mentioned additional electronic, but it didn't work.
I don't know whether the rev counter is broken or the signal is not okay, maybe switched off?

Thanks
Peter

Have you tried a pullup resistor?  1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top

I tried not the pullup solution, I tried instead the solution shown in the video:

Maybe that's wrong for the VDO type

It looks to be the same solution that I used, which is to just connect it and it works.

He is saying there is a pull up resister build into the tacho, possibly I dunno, but I bought a similar looking 52mm tacho on Amazon for ~euro 35 and it worked. I did have to adjust the little pot meter at the back and pull a new cable as my loom did not have a cable.
