I have sealed but standard piping on mine. But it is indeed worth doing.

The Puma is quite thirsty with its air consumption, it’s surprising how much restriction there is in there. Diesel$ Live$ Matter. ⛽️🛢️👨‍🔧🧰⚙️ RED, WHITE & BOOST! 🇬🇧

2013 Defender 90 Puma 2.2 HT Santorini Black
Just managed to disappear out to the garage this evening and removed the impeller thing a ma jig!! 👍🏼

Wont be driving it till the weekend but anything to make it breathe a little better, excited to see if the “lack of feel” bottom end improves

Do remember that the centrifugal separator is there for a purpose and if you remove it and do nothing else you are more likely to end up with a saturated paper air filter element in very wet or humid conditions. Unless you fit a more sophisticated prefilter as part of a more thorough upgrade, you might want to check the condition of your air filter element more often.

Thank you Blackwolf, I’ll certainly remember to do that .
To be honest I didn’t try the new pipe work with the impeller still attached , I probably should have as the larger diameter pipe is what would logically make the biggest difference . Luckily I didn’t have to butcher the pipe work to remove anything so I may try it with it back in . https://www.instagram.com/hustynminepark/

NO, I meant I was working with Porny on the idea down at IRB at the time. Did a fair few early Puma back then, even his own development 90...Goode old days of R&D , many late nights and rolling road days... Putting Dreams on Drives at JLR Solihull..

No problems with my airfilter in 4 years Simon, not with the standard pipe, snorkel, silicone replacement pipe
Or my new 4” pipe setup. Not even a hint of a damp filter. 2011 Defender DCPU 2.2 - https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic30623.html

I removed the propeller-like-thing today. I didn't cut anything, just unhooked it with a screwdriver and took it away. Initially the plan was to remove the complete air box, but after I had it loose I realised that it wont come up because of the air-conditioning. Defender 110 SW MY2011 2.4tdci decat, no EGR
