It can happen. Rare but it can. Happened on my 90 after some lanes, would just suddenly loose power and or go into limp mode. On a whim i changed the sensor never had an issue 2 years later. Instagram @defender_ventures

Hi TJ101
Reading your thread with interest.
Have an occasional starting issue on my Td5 110 CSW MY2006, when cold, with the well-reported chugging and no pick-up.
Injector seals done,
MAF new,
ECU wiring clear,
EGR removed,
decent map (Stage 2 by JE Engineering) with uprated cooler
quiet fuel pump etc etc

but she will still protest when cold (like the rest of the family!) but eventually agrees to participate.

Am living with it pro tem, but would love a solution!

Other reason for post is to offer use of my Nanocom - am not far from Taunton, and always good to share one's weaknesses and addictions! It is a really useful addition.

PM me if of any interest or your mate's doesn't arrive.

DM

Many thanks for the welcome - have been a td5 owner for about 15 years, (and RRC many years ago when they were new...!) and am enjoying exploring the distant corners of Landy-lore as a newb!

Is there a Sunday Drive in Somerset?

Next event that your 110 will be ok with is

A 110, on Sundays Drd,, even though they have been round before would not be ideal

At the risk of heading off topic Off Topic that could work well. Might get swmbo to come along in her Disco sport too, if that isn't too frightful! She has often expressed a wish to explore it's capacity for nonsense!

Will enter negotiations and respond via website.

Many thanks for the steer. Thumbs Up

Update

Well, 3rd trip out on a Drive round day,, 3rd time it played up,,

Mil light on, and no throttle, switch off and restart ok,but same misfire, and non driveability
Fitted a new gen Map sensor there and then made no difference,
checked live values via nanacom,, all looked ok, certainly the pedal values

Earthing points next call ?? California F1, 75th 110 "Kermit", 50th Ann V8, 90 V8 Hybrid, 55 Series 1

Wasn’t there an issue with earth to the fuses, and relays under driver seat that caused problems in the past?

Think it always made the temp gauge shoot up thpugh, and you’d have noticed that.

Hi Andy

Temp gauge is working, and tests ok, via Nanacom

Could be a coincidence , when it played up yesterday, i noticed the difflock light on 3rd brightness ? hence thinking earths ?
saying that, the light did then come on as it should, but problem still there

So,, start in fusebox !, fault is so intermittent,, was fine driving to the venue, and for the first hour or so,, then limp all the way home !!! looking for all the downhill bits, Mil light coing on quite often, needed a rolling switch off and restart Shocked California F1, 75th 110 "Kermit", 50th Ann V8, 90 V8 Hybrid, 55 Series 1

If you do swap/check the crank sensor look for the spacer that might be there or damage to the end of the sensor due to spacer being required.

I don’t know why some need spacer and others don’t.

Bad engine ECU - I have repaired domě TD5 ECUs with blown components in crank sensor circuit. Domě tiny parts were broken. All cars had problems with crank sensor signal, all had tried new sensor s and spacers. Car were tuning, but not optimal. "Drobek" = The Small One - Discovery 2, "Blufínek" = The Blue Thing - Defender 130, and for me at least Ford Mondeo Smile
