Webshop recommendation (in UK or European Union)
My TD5 110 is at the workshop and quite some seals and gaskets have to be replaced. My mechanic told me if I can get him the parts cheaper through a community recommended shop (rather than source the parts in Switzerland) it would be a win-win. This also given he would not have to spend time for searching parts.

Are there any particular recommendations where you are getting your parts?

For the doors and windows: As I need to replace all door and windows seals I was hoping to find full replacement kits instead of having to hunt down the individual parts

I'm aware of this shop and the prices seem to be on the fair side but am still to new to Defenders. Expertise is more with Datsuns at the moment.

Would be much obliged for pointers.

I use lrdirect.com when I can’t get things locally (most of the time Rolling Eyes ). Quick turnaround, often many options for the same part number and prices (in euro for me) include import duties up front rather than being paid later to the courier. They have the option for pricing in Swiss francs. No affiliation…. Just convenient and never had problems.

I have used Paddock Spares many times. They also offer ddp shipping (Delivered Duty Paid) so you pay at your local vat rate. The price you see is the price you pay. They have both aftermarket, OEM and genuine. Most searches with part number will result in aftermarket. If you add a ‘G’ at the end it would be OEM.

Not sure if postage to Schweiz is cheaper from Germany than from the UK? If so, there is
https://allbrit.de/select.cfm?CAR=L8&SPRACHE=DE#
where you can find parts by selecting them in the diagrams, similar to

https://www.lrworkshop.com/diagrams/land-r...ssis/doors
where you click on a part and get a list of "the usual" UK suppliers such as lrdirekt, paddock.

More Germany-based shops I can recommend are
https://allrad-kontor24.de/shop/
https://www.landy-scheune.de

Re the door seals it seems genuine one are far better than Britpart (I think Mike of britannica restaurations had a video about it? Genuines have a different profile and material IIRC.)

Many thanks for the recommendations.

UK or Germany - its not much of a difference. Shipping has some weight thats all. one of the UK shops offers for 1k the whole rear-right door which i'm looking at. Just need to ask my mechanic to measure the button size on the door handle that i order the right one (not sure of the purpose of said button) given that there is no lock and its central locked...

Whats kind of not too intuitive is that the seal section for the rear doors is always missing - LRWORKSHOP or the Allbrit only offer the front seals and the rear door's seal. given the door has a different shape, i cant imagine that the front seals also work with the rear ones?

But otherwise the pages are really neat to navigate and get familiar with the 99'999 parts that will make my Mortimer better than factory new.

99,999 parts indeed Smile
Do you mean the rear side doors' seals are missing from the diagram?
They're here I think https://www.lrworkshop.com/diagrams/land-r...me_52743#2
And which button are you referring to?

For online orders I’ve personally found island 4x4 to be the most efficient and their prices seem to be competitive for most things.

I see now .. funny that they did an own section for front door seals but not rear ones.

its nice to see that the seals are all rather economic if not ordered LR branded

In regards of the push button - S&P have the interesting plug and play (after paint) option which is interesting. However they also state you need to do a selection regarding the push button size. I know my handle has also that button (not sure whats the purpose of it) but as an (early) 2002 model i'm not certain if I need to order the 18mm version or 20mm version...

All civilian Defender doors have push button handles, regardless of whether TD5 or Puma (or Tdi, etc.). The size that SP4x4 refer to in their listing is the diameter of the hole for the lock in the drivers door handle, which is either 16mm or 20mm:

I'm not sure about the dates that they've quoted for changeover - I thought the change from 16mm to 20mm came with the introduction of the pressed steel 'Puma' doors in the last year or so of the TD5, but I could be wrong.

Anyway, telling the difference is easy: if you have a single key for the ignition and door lock then you have the later 20mm lock barrels. If you have two different keys then it's the earlier 16mm type. Darren

Thank you for the explanation - I indeed use the same Key for door/ignition. So the 20mm would apply. However given that the door is a rear passenger door - wouldn't it be applicable to get the "Blanked off lock hole" version? Given I don't have any lock barrels sitting in the door.

There seems to be no reference to that 'not-a-button' in their rear door listings.

Yes, but their rear door pages don't give that option anyway. The choice there is either manual or central locking.

A 2003 Td5 has the 20mm hole. So seems like site is correct. 1988 90 Hard Top, 19J Diesel Turbo, Shire Blue - Restoration ongoing

I have used Paddock, LRParts and LR Direct to ship to CH, they all handle customs so it was super easy.

I have also ordered from YRMT for body parts, they sell VAT free and you pay VAT at reception. Also super easy.
