Handbrake Electrical Short
I'm having erratic indicator flashing and headlamp dimming when disengaging my handbrake on my 96' 110 300tdi. Everything returns to normal if I pull up slightly on the handbrake handle. I have even disconnected the handbrake switch and the issue remains. I have no clue how the handbrake switch can affect the headlamps and indicators even when disconnected. Any suggestions?

Check vehicle earths.

Often the earth to transfer box. The vehicle is using handbrake cable as the earth cable Thumbs Up

As others have said, but also check brake fluid is nearest the upper max mark too. Thumbs Up Diesels Lives Matter. ⛽️🛢️👨‍🔧🧰⚙️

Thanks everyone. It's definitely the chassis ground. I put a jumper from the battery negative post to the chassis and the issue is gone. I will install a new chassis strap.
