Well my 2010 110 driver door bottom hinge has just about had it, so much play that door has dropped. not great but it is a LR.
for now i have replaced it with a std one. but it got me thinking should i be looking to fit something better/serviceable. (had a 99 Td5 top hinge failed after 9 years so its not a new problem) if replacing an upgrading should i look to add some security features too anyway a little digging found these: http://optimillraceproducts.com/product_in...ucts_id=33 rears ^^^ and front: https://houseofurban.co.uk/shop/defender/b...-defender/ cheaper: https://www.devon4x4.com/da1305-defender-s...inges.html security wise. https://goreproducts.com/products/defender...hinge-kits not sure how much of a pain these would be to fit ^^^ also those bomb proof plates to consider for security. what have others done? PS - cant believe the cost £720 for a 110.... Cheers James 110 2010 XS Utility 130 2011 M57 bespoke Camper 90 2010 Hardtop 90 M57 1988 Hardtop |

Here you go.
Eric http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic55937....+greasable You never actually own a Defender. I’ve just this week ordered a pair of hinges for the drivers door of mine as the bottom hinge is now worn enough to affect closing. It seems the lifespan for a hinge in regular use is about 8 years or so as I think I fitted these in 2009/2010.
I went for genuine ones, all the others are either ugly or very expensive. Will hopefullly fit them this weekend. A better solution in my opinion would be to modify genuine hinges to accept grease. There is a thread on this on the LR4x4 forum. |

Cheaper route... open door, drill 1.5 or 2mm hole in centre of the hinge and pump in grease with a chainsaw grease gun. You can feel the drill touch the hingepin.

I am looking at this too, I wouldn't mind the gore ones, but I am not sure how plug in play those would be. Anyone know who has them fitted? Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back

I need to replace the 2nd row lower hinge on the RH (drivers) side. Is it the same part as that on the front row lower? 2015 Puma 2.2 110 XS Utility Station Wagon - 2024 - Present

Yes, the only change to the hinges are if they’re drilled for the wing mirrors, otherwise the left hand (and vice versa right hand) upper and lower are geometrically the same.
That’s certainly the case for the later TD5 style 2003 TD5 110 CSW Instagram: e12_hue |

Just an fyi, you are overpaying for door hinges if you didnt know. by about a few hundred bucks. You can buy 8 full sets for 8 vehicles for the price of 1 set proposed via link. or buy 8 sets and have them last 80 years hahaha.
Just get an original one for total cost of 60 pounds and spray paint them. Done. I rather overpay for a VNT Turbo then a door hinge. |

Except, Defendercan, that an expensive set of fancy new hinges is cheaper than having to replace a later model door assembly ! Theft of doors in the UK is a problem.
I used SC Engineering hinges which prevent access to any of the bolts. https://ebay.us/m/bKePz7 Mo The Land Rover 90 - Many are called, few are chosen. 50 Shades of Pennine Grey |

My passenger lower hinge has dropped a bit when opening the door. Its been like this for 18months,
I have just bought a replacement std one and I will spray it, I cannot see on a 110 the after market kits being 'worth' £700 plus? If the one I have is OEM then its lasted 16 years. If this one lasts 16 years then all good. ![]() |
