United Kingdom 2014 Defender 110 Puma 2.2 USW Aintree Green
This week has consisted of a little bit of interior improvement.

I now have mission control, A tablet running Memory Map for those weekend adventures. Mounted using a cheapy ebay mount I can now see where I am on the planet.

Ohh and you can now just see the CB antenna mounted on the front A bar. Which also acts as a very useful height measuring device Thumbs Up

I have mostly been using the old girl for a variety of useful tasks. Above ^^^^^ is taken high up on Bodmin moor when out setting up and marshalling the 5 Tors race, a Multi terrain race of about 8 miles long.
Below VVVV is taken up on Dartmoor last weekend when I was providing support to the Dartmoor search and rescue group Tavistock section, for the annual Ten Tors Challenge.

Nothing major just a guard to protect the fuel lines that run down by the chassis. It is called a fuel cooler guard but as Microcat says models with EU5 emissions only have a bypass pipe. Hey who cares more shiny bits Cool

Thanks.

Diff Guards are good considering they are just a rebadged QT versions, I have done some minor 'testing' and they have a few marks but on the whole they are holding up well. I do have the very first batch models that were silver electroplate and any current ones are sold painted in the signature grey so can't comment on how well they last.

One of my most favourite 110s on here...so I keep stalking the thread rather embarrassingly Embarassed Anyway, meant to say for a while that I got inspired by you to do the Alive remap considering you look after her so well and rather conservatively - meant in a good way - so I thought if he's done it, than it must be fine Wink Eventually I took the plunge and oh my is it a pleasure to drive. Every time I go up one too many hills on A30 I think to myself what was I waiting for! MY15 Aintree 110 SW - for sale - https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic82781.html

It's ok, I 'Shadow' your progress thread too.

Good to hear you are pleased with the Alive remap, It really does give you a level of performance fitting for the size of the vehicle. Although On ending of the warranty there is slight temptation to maybe go for the big intercooler and turn the taps up to 180 / 460NM ish point. It is more for the torque than anything it is nice to bimble about at 50MPH in top gear surfing a wall of torque and admiring the countryside go by.
Jaro as your familiar with the A roads round here then it is nice to have that overtaking reserve without feeling your going to hit a performance wall.

Thumbs Up

You hit the nail on the head there - once you get a taste of the improvement, it is very tempting to consider a full blown upgrade (intercooler, turbo, exhaust). Having said that, I am very impressed with the fact that my mpg has actually increased and that's with truly utilising the extra performance. I wonder if pushing it to stage 2 would make my foot way too heavy - it must be difficult to resist Mr. Green I already find myself driving faster in the 110 then I used to.

Most importantly, it became a very comfortable ride being able to cruise in top gear with extra power readily available should one need it - a top modification. MY15 Aintree 110 SW - for sale - https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic82781.html

And just in shot the Dixon bate adjustable hitch replacing the standard one.

And a little bit of underbody protection in the form of some rather tasty WildBear Diff Guards.

Above is what greeted me during a levels check back in October. After a period of time of too-ing and fro-ing to make sure it is an oil leak the main dealer confirmed it 'was' an Oil leak (Rear engine crankshaft main oil seal) and that is what was fixed last weekend. So hopefully I'll never see that again. It did require the removal of the gearbox and they did check on the output shaft while they were in there.

In this topic >> Defender Drive Flange Wear You might of seen my tale of getting the JLR to warranty replace my rear shafts. Well technically JLR were fine it was the main dealer who told me that they wouldn't but hey.
Either way my defender is now sporting a new set of the latest one piece shafts and a 'As new' feel to the driving experience with smooth clonk free changes.

Ok after last weeks winching in the crematorium car park I was going to reset my winch and clean the rope but it wouldn't spool out.

The spades on the allbright have again fractured through vibration, this is the second time that this has happened to me Big Cry and I do wonder if setting them in Epoxy would stop the vibration as a winch is what you want working when you need it.

So Looks like I'll be ordering one off Devon 4x4 soonish.
