Just reading on the news about another celebrity picking up another degree just one of the latest in a long line of celebrities to pick up an honorary degree for "outstanding contributions" in their field. Why should the rich and famous be handed academic degrees on a silver platter.

The usual requirements - namely study – is waived. I mean Alex Ferguson, Ryan Gigs the womaniser, Terry Wogan and that sound the same singer Ed Sheeran all have been awarded degrees for what being rich.

I worked hard for my degree as most students do, it gets my goat that they are handed out willy nilly to celebrities For those who like Welsh Mountains and narrow boats have a look at my videos and photos at..

Quite agree!

It is part of the problem which is driving down the value of degrees. Running Restoration Thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/post323197.html#323197

You could try placing an ice cube on to it so that it hardens this takes about ten minutes and then try removing with a blunt blade pull it off the carpet. For those who like Welsh Mountains and narrow boats have a look at my videos and photos at..

Predictive spelling that actually returns words being different or misspelt in sentences you thought you have typed correctly. Then having to re-edit / re-type all over again or only notice once sent. Evil or Very Mad Banging Head Banging Head Banging Head Banging Head

But then we would not have anything to laugh at, like when predictive spell checking alters ‘Dynamat’ into Dynamite.
Such as the posts ‘best way to insulate the roof is to Dynamite it’. I can only chuckle at the confusion that these predictive spell cock ups gives new members! For those who like Welsh Mountains and narrow boats have a look at my videos and photos at..

Royal Mail.
Why is it we normally get our delivery around lunchtime, Christmas it was more like 3pm.
Okay, understandable due to the extra workload and should be similar now too for a week or two.

Today I go out in the morning knowing that there will be a delivery, probably in the afternoon or possibly lunchtime.
Either way, I got home especially before lunchtime for this reason.

I come home, check the post and find ordinary post and a "you were out" card from RM.
Time was 11:30AM on the card. Banging Head Banging Head

It's came from the USA too, and now I have to wait not one but two days to redeliver.

Same here - is royal mail the worst delivery company in the world.

Sometimes they deliver, sometimes not
I swear they save up post to make it worthwhile
Then they pick and choose when to leave something or not.
Why they dont just re-label there mail not 1st or second but "possibly, but certainly by the end of the week" as all post seems to arrive Thursday/friday maybe Saturday, never monday. and we dont give a s**t if its not special delivery, which you now must use to get something anywhere in our network

and finally, why do i have to trek to the delivery centre because you couldn't be bothered to leave it (unless you cant be bothered to take it back) then give blood to prove i am who i say i am (although you dont check when you deliver and i have the card no bother, i could just wait another 2 days to receive the item thats already 3 days later than i wanted

I could go on, but royal mail are useless Mike

Royal Mail, yes I mean the UK version Rolling Eyes
Bonhams mailed me already twice a 2.000.000th auction catalogue, and each time it got a bit damaged in transit. Now they are mailing me a 3rd version which they say will be wrapped in a very reinforced package. Let's see how that will fare in transit. And, no..... our Swiss post service would not have done that, because in the rare occasions where through their fault something gets a bit damaged, they will add an apology note to the envelope or package.
Now, the good thing is, in the end I will have 3 of those catalogues, so feel a bit less grumpy after all. Laughing
Eric You never actually own a Defender. You merely look after it for the next generation.
