Have just purchased a set (LH/RH) of the larger mirrors but cannot undo the existing mirror screws as they are seized solid. Don't want to damage the existing mirrors trying to remove the screws, as I may not like the larger mirrors when fitted, any suggestions how I may remove them would be greatly appreciated!

You could buy a pair of replacement arms, and leave the old mirrors alone on the old arms.

Non-genuine or take-off arms are not expensive.

They're not as big as a lot of people will have you believe. At least I can now spot the audi/bmw Censored before they try and cut me up Thumbs Up

Hello All

Interesting...

I am looking at this for a different reason... Shocked

Have recently bought an Eriba Van at 2M wide and have a need to ensure that I comply to the Rear Viewing Requirements, my initial thoughts were to swap over my existing mirrors onto a pair of Extend Arms.

The Defender is approx' 1755mm wide, between the inside edges of the Standard Door Mirrors
and the Mirrors themselves are approx' 125mm wide.

So the overall width of the Standard Mirrors are under 2M
1950mm in my case with the mirrors angled in to suite my needs.

For Towing the law states that for cars registered after 26th January 2007, towing mirrors must not project more than 250mm beyond the width of the Caravan (Trailer), so in my case the overall 'extended' door mirror width of 2500mm is allowed. (Eriba + 500mm)

Whilst I know the Mud Blind Spot Mirrors are not designed as Towing Mirrors, they may still be of interest to give an increased Rear and Blind Spot View, probably still in conjunction with using the Extended Mirror Arms.

Having now sorted out my towing frame I will set up and see how much of the Blue Triangle I get with the standard set up and work out a route to get all of it (or more).

Main wish (beyond compliance) is to have a 'solid' set up, swapping over Arms is doable but there's more to when you actually look at it, Door Security on the top door hinge for a start in order to get to the Door Mirror Arm mounting screws

Any thoughts, those who have sorted out there own set up... Question

Hi munch90

No just about to, dragged this home with both the wrong towing arrangement (ball too high)
and no adjustment to mirrors, but felt that the standard set up didn't restrict my view.

Want to ensure that I avoid the 3 points on my clean license though... Exclamation (and a fine)

The blind spots in my 110 Hardtop are large enough I lost our entire combine header and a trailer somewhere off to the passenger side yesterday. It's a good thing I knew it was there because if I'd just been relying on what I could see in mirrors we'd have had a bit of a crunch.

Hmm... After seeing these, they're apparently not as big as I thought they'd be. Looking forward to seeing one live before final decision.
