My experience of big mirror heads is that the wind moves them so that eventually all you see in them is the road. Attempting to tighten them more to prevent this results in ripping the bottoms out.
I should point out this is with another make not mud's version but to be honest unless they've enlarged the ball mount wind resistance is going to push them back.

I have been using the larger heads since the early 1990's when I first fitted a set to my 101FC (I also fitted them with heating elements at the same time).
In all those years and regardless of the vehicle they have been fitted to I have never had a problem with them moving, I have found that it is just a case of making sure they are correctly fixed in the first place.

I should imagine that if you have a problem with them moving then you could just drop a spot of something on the ball to stiffen them up?

+1 for the blind-spot offering from Mud.
I have fitted my own stick-on convex mirrors in the past but these look excellent. ONE LIFE, GET IT!

Land Rovers of all shapes S3 onwards… Daily is a 110 V8.

One of the first improvements we do is fit larger mirrors. It is good for us as we tow on a regular basis plus drive on the continent . We have not experienced any problems with wind on the mirrors.

I have to agree, if these mirrors were standard size I would buy them straight away, as it is I have just fitted small circular blind spots onto the standard mirrors because I couldn't find anything else suitable. The standard mirrors are already big enough.

Far too big for me.

As for driving on the continent or in the UK, you'll always have blind spots. In both cases I just anticipate and in at t-junctions for instance, I simply don't steer in directly but go straight till I need to go left or right. Solves the problem for me. Whether with or without a trailer.

I find that the standard size mirrors are good enough though I think I have convex mirrors fitted to both sides? In any case, if this kit came in the standard size then I would also consider the upgrade. I have to admit though that I haven't seen any truck thus far fitted with the larger mirrors so I may change my opinion once I see one.

Bought one for the driver's side, rhd.

Not great in my opinion. Problems are:

1. The new mirror plate is just too big for the housing it sits in, doesn't seat very well and therefore vibrates even more than the large mirrors do anyway.

2. The optics of the two mirror components do not line up and therefore you don't get the same visual point of reference. As Mud say the two parts are not separately adjustable.

This means if you set it up so that the main flat part gives you a view say, of the edge of the car, the convex bit gives a view miles further out, which sounds OK but in reality is weirdly disorientating as you've got no point of reference in relation to the vehicle.

I checked in my Vivaro van which has two parts mirrors and they don't vibrate and they do line up on the car-side edges.

Mud gear is usually good but not this time I think. And they're a hell of a price for what they are. 2003 Td5 110 Hardtop
Now a 2013 110 USW too.

Actually, I got that wrong, having now driven the thing again.

If the flat section lines up with the edge of the car, the convex bit gives you a big view of the car itself and doesn't go far out into the road.

Same basic problem though. 2003 Td5 110 Hardtop
Now a 2013 110 USW too.

^^^ as Munch said. Put mine on today and they are brilliant. My old ones wobbled around a bit at speed, but these stayed as tight as...

Angle of view for both upper and lower mirrors were excellent for both left and right.

I can imagine that you need to take into account eye level height and angle in relation to seat height, angle and how far back the seat is and also angle of mirrors and mirror arms, etc, etc.... But does the job just right for me Thumbs Up
