Now, the issue is this. From the intake manifold to EGR to this intercooler hose, everything is sooty and filthy. I'm pretty sure the intercooler is as well as they are all connected and I'm seeing some kind of film at the point the hose connects to it. So is this a sign the turbo is leaking? It's not supposed to be oily inside the components is it?

Regarding the last picture of the sooty hose. I noticed that I have the same. Do you know what is cause?

Regards

In general all that soot is coming from the EGR in normal operation and any oil is coming as a mist from the crankcase vent that feeds into the turbo inlet hose.

On a 2.4 the easiest way to rectify all this mess is to have the EGR mapped out, blank the EGR cooler at ingress and fit a genuine ProVent 200 or 100 on the crankcase vent pipe.

Then give your inlet manifold , hoses, Intercooler and MAF a good clean and look forward to an engine that stays clean, performs better and lasts a lot longer.

@Ianh

Thank you very much indeed. I have my EGR blanked and also mapped out.

The EGR should remain clean, anyways is there a chance of oil getting there from the turbo or returning from the intake manifold?
