over the last few weeks my parents have been doing the odd jobs, basically adding some nice little touches back to terr.
1st of all the last piece of the front interior was installed, My dad decided to install a subwoofer from mud, so one weekend my mam and dad did a bit of work on the bottom of the replacement cubby box, so that all the wiring was neat and tidy.

their old black one, with the speakers,

So Terr is looking much better now, Since Terr had returned my parents had noticed a knock from the crap exhaust. So i went under and had a look,
It turned out the fools hadn't fastened the down pipe back onto the bracket that is on the engine. They had put a replacement bolt back on the bracket on the engine, which was hand tight. So that was sorted out. My dad said you know, we have done a better job than them here like, and this is a 30k rebuild.
They are planning on going on holiday next month, so i think suspension is on the cards, as its rocking britpart crap.
I can ask about their old cubby box and seats if anyone is interested? just to see if they would sell them. Thumbs Up Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back

Terrs Back in da house Milestone Milestone Milestone Milestone Milestone Milestone

Me and my dad ended up building a two new fuel lines, new lift up, and we chucked about 20 odd litres in the tank. Gave it a prime with the fuel filter blead screw slackened, and we got diesel straight away. Gave it another prime, once that was locked off, and then It fired away with out any bother. Terred away for a good five mins, even gave it a blimp and all is well.

I am suspecting that the lift up diagram has failed and its been chucking more diesel in to it and ran the tank empty, and the fuel sender has been stuck and the gauge is saying its got 3/4 tank, has threw my parents off like.
so its looking like its had 2 problems. Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back

These are the goodies that arrived in the post, Thumbs Up

just as well really we made a start, because when me and my dad tackled the backend 1st, i noticed the rear spring retainers missing!

These fools hadn't put them back on, when they binned off the terrafirma springs and dampers on. My dad remembers fitting them, as he got the full kit from yrm metals.
here they are on mine!

So Censored all was holding the rear springs to the axle, only sarnied in between the chassis and axle.
They had Censored one of the threads on one of the rear damper mounts,
I said to my dad sod it, and whip the pair of them off from there, and we will replace them, with the proper bolts.

The dampers were Censored like, and they really haven't done 200 miles! So it shows you the quality of britpart like, cheap to get you through the mot and that's about it. Everything just undone to easy the longest bolts known to man came off with such ease, it was alarming!

The rear springs just dropped out, and we fitted the new ones in, which are 1" higher.

By this time i had ordered the replacement parts and Polybushes. So when this was taken, we had just installed the rear springs, on both sides.

terrafirma rear spring retainers,

New damper mounts with the proper bolts

here is their crap, a long side the proper bolts

all installed

It does need rear disc guards, as again they removed those and never bothered putting them back on.

The front end got the exact same treatment with polybushes.

When my dad tested the ones that come off, those were not even damping at all!

Also we don't think the inner arches are installed correctly??

We had to prybar the inner arch a little to free the turret.
After all that, Terr sits happy and he does have suspension. The only thing that is salvable are the springs, which are up for grabs if anyone wants them? Britpart but they seem ok, probably the only thing that was.
This suspension is Heavy duty, so it should help with the caravan on the back. Thumbs Up

I said to my dad about this, he has sadly started again from scratch, replacing stuff, that shouldn't have needed doing, Brakes, and suspension Rolling Eyes
Its great to see this starting to push forwards after the crap its gone through, with the those fools. You can really tell, its been flung together, with any anything they have in the work shop. You would think this was just a cheap home rebuild, and not a 30k rebuild. If i ever do go to an event, and i see the manager. i will be having a few words Thumbs Up Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back

Prying the inner wing to get the turret mount out is not unusual. Probably more unusual not to have to pry it out of the way. Cheers

Doesn't look like the tabs are bent over on the steering box retaining bolts?

Steering box is held on with stainless bolts as well - they want changing for the correct hi-tensile bolts (M12x100mm 10.9).  1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top

Cheers lads! I will check this with my dad, we did do the steering box back during lockdown, I cannot remember me getting stainless bolts, as my dad likes to go for the Genuine bolts. it wouldn't surprise me with what they have used tbh. As they have practically just chucked anything, and flung the motor back together. They have been very quick and ripping it a part like, and not giving care on how things were etc. Putting it back together looks very much guess work, and it was very much dragged out, as you lads have seen here. Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back

Terr passed his MOT, and has been tracked, my dad had changed the steering bars and track rod ends.
Those were changed 10 years ago, a long with the dampers they had fitted. So with the refresh of dampers and springs, they decided to do those too.
Also these have been added, the rear plate was just say holding on Rolling Eyes when that was removed.
rear deflectors, ( another thing that was missing) and chrome surround plate fitted.

looking a lot better,
Also my dad did this with the doors, the rubber seal used is also used on a certain vehicle we talk about on here, and its not a defender Whistle These were the scraps off me, that i took home Thumbs Up

A the steering bolts that were flagged up,
I had a chat with my dad about it, and he didn't recall changing those to stainless, and nor did i, So i checked an old photo, of it been part stripped, when these fools had it, and sure enough, they were not stainless. So they have tossed those in, Rolling Eyes so the proper units have been ordered off there, and will be changed.
The rear disc guards have arrived, that i got off one of the lads off here. As again those were taken off and not put back on! saved my dad a few quid there in bits alone. Thumbs Up

So its slowly coming back together properly, a few issues have been brought up, but again that could be due to the fact its been sitting for nearly 2 years! Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back
