Well my dad has ordered a new brake master and a vacuum pump for this, he suspects that they have faffed with the brake master. They decided to replaced it for some reason, after my dad replaced it. So he is undoing some of their shyte. They have practically threw another 1000 at this since its came back and its still not done Censored all mileage. Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back

Hind sight is a wonderful thing but I would have cancelled the caravan holiday and gone over it with them and got them to rectify all the faults before accepting it back.

That is a ridiculous amount of money for the work they have done and the quality of work. I know time and parts soon add up but come on I would want a immaculate build for that price

your not wrong there, My parents had the holiday planned when this went in at the time, so they were well told that they needed the defender back way before August. MAP 4x4 / Spanner monkeys or who ever they want to be, were wanting to string the rebuild out till the September.
Also what doesn't help matters is my dad keeping his sodding gob shut, in stead of putting his foot down and challenged people. It bites me to see the state of the car, and my dad doing his money, and we are sorting out other peoples handy work. my buddies have all practically fell off the their chairs with shock when i told them. One of them said it looks like they have just used any old nuts and bolts to put that back together, to the point that they have killed it. Three others said that they should have sold it on as a spare repair and gone either TD5 like i did or a late Puma. I did have this conversation too with them, showed them some defenders on here for sale at the time too. Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back

A few weeks ago now, After we over hauled the brakes, Pedal was going right to the floor, it was dangerous. When i test drove it.
Replaced the full lot, We discovered the flexi hoses that they put back on, were not the goodridge hoses, but terrfirma. My dad has reverted the flexi hoses back to standard units and all seems ok. The pedal seems a little soft for my liking but the brakes are much, much better, and not locking on.
Steering column is next on the list, as my dad cannot get the cowling right at all. So something is a miss there. Rolling Eyes Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back

Its been a bit but i thought id update you on what has been going on.

When we did the brake overhaul, Its had the full nosh replaced now, we found this on the rear

a random bolt they just chucked in on the drive flange Rolling Eyes

So that was corrected with an old spare one i had from back when we did the brakes on my old 300.

also the rubber seal under the bonnet was missing

here it is on mine

the steering cowl, my dad had discovered that screws were missing etc. So when he tried to had the proper stuff, he couldn't.
They had swopped his unit for some one else's!

So it looks like they have swopped a few bits off my dads like, because my dad changed this before with another unit, as this was one of the very early jobs we did, when we did the spot lamp loom years ago!

Also they don't know how to wire in properly the heater and vent controls, My dad was having a nightmare , until it was spotted.

All sorted now, but f**k me they have a lot to answer for like. There was a banging noise coming from the rear end, he later found out that something to do with the rear suspension was lose, and had the wrong bolts in! Which again was sorted out. Remember they were going to take this away with the caravan last year! Shocked

If they had done, god knows what would have happened, and i tell you this, a few good hidings would have been dished out if something had gone west. Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back

On to the positive stuff thank god, About 2 months ago, i met Jim1988, He had a full interior for sale. Which my parents were like yeah we will have that. so they have made a start rolling out an interior upgrade, some parts that should have been installed years ago.
So today Terr becomes a bit more lux!

After they repaired the window, that hadn't been fitted back properly. My mam fitted some sound deafing into the panels too.

While that was going on, my dad fitted these

another problem, that was corrected. ( bits missing and bolts not in properly)

Also my dad made his replacement roof rack up, I later helped him, after sorting the rear anti roll bar out on mine.

The spots on the bull bar and roof rack are wired, but not into the dash yet, something he has to do.

The techno seats, Thumbs Up
Still lot more to roll out with him, but they are working on it. Thumbs Up
My parents are wanting to keep the older refurbished seats, but i am going to try and twist their arms to get shot like, as they will end up in shed, like the wheels. Rolling Eyes
The rear reverse light has failed a long with the camera, so that needs looking into. Thumbs Up

The Brakes have been bob on since me and my dad replaced the full bloody nosh, so its been something they have done, or put on. Thumbs Up Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back

yeah they are starting to get into the meat and potatoes now, and move forwards with upgrades. They have a few toys to install. They looked into the reversing camera, and the fool that wired it in, has done a very poor job, so my dad has sorted it and its now in colour. They also replaced the reversing switch too. Terr is looking really nice now. I hope your folks are a little happier.

He deserves a bit of tlc from those that care, after some of the challenges he has faced.

Your parents have been taken advantage of by a bunch of crooks for sure, but they are very lucky to have you taking care of them and Terr πŸ‘

It’s a difficult one - calling the crooks out - and I appreciate you need to respect your parents view.

Fingers crossed that the enjoyment far outweighs the pain - keep smiling and keep doing what you are doing πŸ‘

Its nice to see things moving forwards on a positive note, Rather than re doing someone else's handy work. If this was mine, there would have been hell on!
My dad is sorting out some switch wiring and that will set another project off. Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back
